Vassar Athletes and Coaches will host their annual Day of Giving, starting on Tuesday October 1 at 9 am and ending at noon on October 2.

The Orange County [California] Community Scholars Program (CSP) recently honored Professor of Religion Marc Epstein with its highest award, the CSP Maimonides Award for Excellence in Jewish Learning, citing his decades of presentations in adult education classes for Jewish and non-Jewish students on a variety of topics. Every summer since 1988, Vassar students have been collaborating with faculty members in the humanities and social sciences on research projects under the auspices of the Ford Scholars Program. A typical project supports one faculty member and one student to engage in rigorous scholarship, teaching preparation, or course development. 

Faculty members from more than 20 colleges and universities attended a weeklong workshop at Vassar on the teaching of the Bayesian method of statistics to undergraduates.

Sixteen students from a variety of science disciplines and two faculty members spent two weeks conducting a wide variety of research projects.

Students and faculty at Vassar and other local colleges have begun training on Vassar’s new $1-million confocal microscope, acquired with a grant from the National Science Foundation.
