Award-winning actress Lisa Kudrow ’85 to Deliver 2010 Commencement Address
Lisa Kudrow ’85, award-winning actress and a member of the college’s Board of Trustees since 2004, will deliver the address during the 146th Vassar College Commencement exercises on Sunday, May 23.
Born in Encino, CA, Kudrow earned a biology degree from Vassar before beginning her acting career. After joining the Los Angeles improvisational group the Groundlings, she landed her first major television role, in 1993, as Ursula on the series Mad About You. Her most well known role, as Phoebe on Friends the following year, earned her six Emmy Award nominations and one award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 1998.
Kudrow is the executive producer for the new NBC documentary series Who Do You Think You Are, which traces the genealogy of a well-known person in each episode. Her production company, Is or Isn't Entertainment, started with alumnus Dan Bucatinsky ’87, produced the critically acclaimed HBO series The Comeback, for which Kudrow earned an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. Her film credits include Easy A (2010), Paper Man (2009), Love and Other Impossible Pursuits(2009), Bandslam (2009), Powder Blue (2009), Hotel for Dogs (2008), P.S. I Love You (2007), Happy Endings (2005), Wonderland (2004), Hanging Up (2000), Analyze This (1999), Romy & Michele's High School Reunion (1997), among others.
