The String Orchestra of Brooklyn

You’ve heard of the New York Philharmonic. Now meet the String Orchestra of Brooklyn (SOB). The all-volunteer orchestra provides a musical home for non-professional classical musicians living in and around Brooklyn: students, professors, architects, lawyers, executives, editors, designers, artists. Egypt Through the Eyes of an Alumnus Who Was There

When David “D.C.” Mungo ’10 – recipient of a 2010 Ann Cornelisen Fellowship for Language Study Abroad – headed to the Arabic Language Institute of the American University in Cairo for five months of study, the History major and Arabic minor was in proverbial heaven. Jamshed Bharucha Assumes Presidency of Cooper Union

When Jamshed Bharucha ’78 becomes the president of Cooper Union on July 1, he’ll be adding the position at the highly selective Manhattan college, famous for its free tuition, to an already-impressive list of accomplishments. Currently the provost of Tufts University, Bharucha also spent 19 years at Dartmouth University as John Wentworth Professor of Psychological & Brain Sciences and Dean of the Faculty of Arts & Sciences, making him the first Indian American to be named dean of a school at an Ivy League university. Students and Faculty/Staff Members Face-off in Second Annual Basketball Game

On February 10, for the second year in a row, Vassar held its eagerly anticipated Student-Faculty basketball game. A raucous crowd of supporters urged the players on. Student leaders stoked enthusiasm by offering tee shirts to the sections that could cheer the loudest. Fans of the faculty/staff team (dubbed “Old School”) displayed pride by holding up signs with slogans such as “Old School Rules!” and “Old People Rock!” Read More …
