Making it Graphic: Katherine Yungmee Kim ’93 Takes on the Demilitarized Zone

It was in 2011 that Katherine Yungmee Kim ’93 first considered writing a book about the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) that, for 60 years, has separated the Korean Peninsula into two bitterly divided nations. Now, thanks to a Time-Out Grant from Vassar, Kim will spend 10 days in July traveling the 155-mile-long DMZ, interviewing South Koreans about the role of the boundary in their everyday lives for a graphic novel.
