Vassar Awarded $600,000 in National Science Foundation Grants

Vassar was awarded more than $600,000 in two National Science Foundation grants for significant computing infrastructure. The funding will allow considerable expansion of the college’s computing capacity and security, enabling faculty to more effectively participate in large-scale data analysis and Internet-based research collaborations. At least that’s the goal of a pair of Vassar alumnae/i—Kristin (Rule) Gleitsman '02 and Jamie Zeitzer '93—who are now dreaming up a sleep mask designed to trick the brain into overcoming the sleep disruption associated with changes in time zones.
