Jason Blum's Film, Whiplash, Wins Three Oscars

The 87th annual Academy Awards were good to producer and Blumhouse Productions CEO Jason Blum ’91. His film Whiplash was nominated for five Oscars and brought home three: Best Supporting Actor for J.K. Simmons, Best Film Editing, and Best Sound Mixing. A dramatic tale of an abusive jazz music teacher and his student, Whiplash is a departure for Blum, who is most noted for his successful horror films. Read More …

An Engineering Feat

Edith Clarke, Class of 1908, joined the ranks of Thomas Edison, Nikola Tesla, and Alexander Graham Bell with her induction into the National Inventors Hall of Fame. Clarke, an engineer, joined the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, where she became the first woman to present a paper and, later, the first woman with full voting rights. Read More …
