Commencement 2015

Degrees were conferred on 610 members of the Class of 2015 at Vassar’s 151st Commencement on May 31. The recent graduates, along with their families and friends, heard from several speakers at Commencement, including keynote speaker Arianna Huffington (editor-in-chief of the Huffington Post), class president Zoe Heloise Fullerton ’15, and AAVC President Milbrey “Missie” Rennie Taylor ’68. Vassar Awarded Grant to Establish Environmental Research Hub

Vassar was awarded a $997,000 grant by the Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust to establish the Vassar Conservation and Environmental Engagement Cooperative. The cooperative will centralize and consolidate environmental research, outreach, and education activities for the college, community, and visitors. Read More …

New Powerhouse Theater Season Begins

Vassar and New York Stage and Film announced their upcoming 2015 Powerhouse Theater season, including a new play by award-winning company The Debate Society (with Hannah Bos ’00 and Paul Thureen ’00), new musicals by Michael John LaChiusa and Duncan Sheik, and an evening of Tennessee Williams-inspired short plays by six leading playwrights. Diane Downing '77 to Organize Republican National Convention

Diane Downing ’77 will play a significant role in organizing the Republican National Convention in July 2016. A senior vice president at Huntington Bank, Downing will be the chief operating officer of the Cleveland 2016 Host Committee, the nonprofit created to put on the convention, expected to draw tens of thousands.
