The second annual Sophomore Career Connections brought 65 alumnae/i and parents to campus to help provide career support to nearly 200 sophomores. A cyborg is defined as a person whose physical abilities are extended beyond normal human limitations by mechanical elements built in to the body. But what, exactly, constitutes being a cyborg? Sylvia McLaughlin ’39: Remembering the Woman Who Saved the Bay

The late Sylvia McLaughlin ’39 saw that the San Francisco Bay was being gobbled up by development and decided to act. Co-founding Save the Bay with two other women in 1961, McLaughlin not only helped stop private development of the bay but her environmental activism helped pave the way for public parks, trails, and other spaces along San Francisco’s shoreline.
