Vassar has announced an in-person Commencement for students, to take place on June 6. The Commencement speaker, Jessica O. Matthews, is a tech entrepreneur whose company, Uncharted Power, is creating cutting-edge green infrastructure right in Poughkeepsie. It’s been 50 years since Professor of Art History Linda Nochlin ’51 published her groundbreaking essay “Why Have There Been No Great Women Artists?” about the underrepresentation of women in the field. Gifting Green: Spirit of ’71

With the class of 1971’s 50th Reunion approaching, Jill Troy Werner ’71, as well as Mary Price and her husband, Nick Waser (both field ecologists) made gifts to support the Vassar Farm and Ecological Preserve. Their generosity inspired the class to fund the Class of 1971 Gateway to the Old Vassar Farm as its Reunion gift. Read More …

Vassar Announces Renaming of ALANA Center

During the African American Alumnae/i of Vassar College’s recent Triennial, President Bradley announced that the ALANA Center, one of the many local buildings designed by the late Senior Lecturer of Art Jeh Vincent Johnson, would be renamed in his honor. Professor Johnson taught at Vassar for 37 years and worked to tirelessly to diversify the architectural field. Read More …
