One-woman show explores the power of creativity in transcending sexual violence

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – Actor, writer, and Vassar alumna, Hope Singsen, will perform her one-woman play with original music, SKIN, on Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. in Sanders Auditorium. This event is free and open to the public. SKIN is a frank and funny queer love story about transcending sexual violence.
According to Singsen, “In SKIN, two things threaten a grad student’s dissertation on Virginia Woolf: her hot new girlfriend and her own dark past. In many ways, the piece evolved out of research I conducted at Vassar.” The performance will be followed on October 26th by a panel discussion between Singsen and interdisciplinary members of the Vassar faculty to explore topics such as creativity, embodiment, and neuroscience. This panel will take place at 7:00 p.m. in the Aula at Ely Hall.
Hope Singsen has appeared in numerous films and television shows, as well as on the New York stage. Select credits include Disney’s College Road Trip (opposite Martin Lawrence), Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Collar, and the New York Premiere of José Rivera’s Sonnets for an Old Century at The Barrow Group. Singsen was recently selected to be a Vassar Artist-in-Residence at CATWALK Art Residency in Catskill, NY.
