A. Scott Warthin Museum of Geology & Natural History

The A. Scott Warthin Museum of Geology & Natural History was commissioned in 1862 at the request of Matthew Vassar and houses an extensive collection of rocks, minerals, fossils, and other items related to natural history. For over 150 years, there have been many exciting additions to the original collection, reflecting contemporary interests. Recent improvements include a proportional geologic timeline featuring hand painted illustrations of ancient earth life, and exhibits on departmental research involving foraminifera and paleoclimatology. The museum serves as a resource not only for Earth Science courses but also for the larger Hudson Valley region.
