Alberto Gelmi
Alberto holds an M.A. in Romance and Italian Philology from the University of Milan and a PhD in Comparative Literature from The Graduate Center, CUNY. His research focuses on three main areas: medieval and Early Modern Italian literature, especially on Dante, Boccaccio, and the reception of their work; Jewish culture in Italy and the translation of Biblical texts in the twentieth and twenty-first century; Italian linguistics and second language acquisition. Alberto is the co-editor of Italia.Italie. Studi in onore di Hermann Haller (Mimesis, 2021) and his next project is an edited volume on diversity and inclusive language in the Italian curriculum. His work is published on Carte Romanze, Dedalus, Heliotropia, Idee in for@zione. At Vassar, Alberto is a member of the Consortium on Forced Migration, Displacement, and Education and the Steering Committee on Jewish Studies.

Alberto Gelmi, Assistant Professor of Italian, co-edited a recently published volume entitled Rappresentare per includere. Metodi, strumenti e testi per un italiano plurale.
Alberto Gelmi’s co-edited volume is geared toward inclusion and offers methodological tools and concrete examples for an updated teaching of Italian. The publication was made possible by the generous support of Vassar’s Research Committee and the University of Arkansas.
