Myles Drance
Myles Drance received a BA in chemistry and Spanish from Colgate University and a PhD in chemistry from the University of California, San Diego. He continued his training as an Arnold O. Beckman Postdoctoral Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology before joining the Vassar College faculty in 2023.
Dr. Drance’s research lies at the interface of synthetic inorganic and organic chemistry, seeking to address challenges of both fundamental and industrial importance. He is particularly interested in designing catalysts based on non-toxic, earth-abundant elements to convert organic feedstock chemicals into value-added products. A variety of analytical techniques are used to characterize molecules, such as nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy, and X-ray diffractometry.
