Men’s Soccer
Jared Fiske ’26 scored off a corner kick in the 81st minute in Vassar’s 2-2 tie with Hobart College October 7 on the Hobart campus in Geneva, NY. Danny Berry ’25 opened the scoring with a goal just before halftime on an assist from Owen Fauth ’24.
Fauth scored a goal and assisted on another in Vassar’s 3-2 victory over Skidmore College on September 30 on Gordon Field.
Vassar and Bard College battled to a 0-0 draw on September 27 on Gordon Field. Goalkeeper Vasilis Ganasoulis ’25 recorded his second shutout of the season.
Union College scored in the 12th minute and held on to defeat Vassar, 1-0, on September 23 on the Union campus in Schenectady, NY.
Fauth and Eli Torrey ’27 scored just 10 seconds apart late in the first half and went on to defeat Brandeis University, 2-0, on the Brandeis campus in Waltham, MA. The game was completed on September 21 after it was halted by lightning on September 9.
Fiske scored the winning goal in the 86th minute as Vassar defeated Drew University, 2-1, on September 20 on the Drew campus in Madison, NJ. Fauth had tied the game in the 64th minute.
Vassar tied Montclair (NJ) State University, the sixth-ranked team in the country, 1-1 on September 16 on the Montclair campus. Kyle Lopes ’24 scored in the first half on a pass from Fauth.
SUNY New Paltz blanked Vassar, 1-0, on September 13 on Gordon Field. Ganasoulis made five saves.
Duncan Keker ’25 scored a pair of goals in Vassar’s 5-1 victory over Springfield College September 8 on the Springfield, MA, campus. Fauth had a goal and an assist.
Keker scored three goals in Vassar’s 8-0 victory over Mount Saint Mary College September 3 on Gordon Field. Diego Pastor-Valverde ’26 scored two goals and added an assist.
The Brewers opened the season with a 3-1 loss to Western Connecticut State University September 1 on the WestConn campus in Danbury, CT. Fauth scored the lone goal for Vassar.
Women’s Soccer
Vassar edged Liberty League rival Skidmore College, 2-1, on September 30 on the Skidmore campus in Saratoga Springs, NY. Noelle Namba ’25 and Lucy Getzin ’26 scored for the Brewers.
Vassar and Bard College played to a scoreless tie on September 27 on the Bard campus in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY. It was goalkeeper Teresa Zimmer’s fourth shutout of the year.
Vassar and Union College battled to a 0-0 draw on September 23 on Gordon Field. The Brewers held Union without a shot on goal. Vassar had seven.
Vassar edged Wesleyan University, the #21 ranked team in the country, 2-1 on September 19 on the Wesleyan campus in Middletown, CT. Gigi Panarelli ’27 opened the scoring in the 40th minute, and Claire Karlin ’24 scored in the 78th minute on a pass from Madison Bouggess ’25.
Montclair (NJ) State University blanked the Brewers, 1-0, on September 16 on Gordon Field. Goalkeeper Teresa Zimmer ’24 stopped two Montclair shots.
Panarelli snapped a scoreless tie in the 65th minute and Vassar went on to defeat Western Connecticut State University, 2-0, on the WestConn campus in Danbury, CT. London Wilkes ’25 scored an insurance goal in the 88th minute.
The Brewers defeated the University of Scranton, the 16th-ranked team in Division III, 2-1 on September 9 on Gordon Field. Riley McGrath ’26 and Maddie Wolf ’27 scored the goals.
Panarelli and McGrath each scored twice in Vassar’s 5-0 win over Sarah Lawrence College on September 6 on Gordon Field.
New York University blanked the Brewers, 3-0, on September 3 in Newark, NJ. Zimmer made seven saves.
Bouggess scored Vassar’s first goal of the season and assisted on another in the Brewers’ 4-0 win over the College of Mount Saint Vincent September 1 on Gordon Field.
Women’s Volleyball
Vassar split a pair of matches on the campus of Elmira College on October 7. The Brewers fell to Hartwick College in five sets but defeated Elmira, 3-1. Maura McAusland ’27 buried 19 kills and added six digs, two blocks, and three service aces in the win over Elmira.
The Brewers posted victories over William Smith College and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy on September 30 in Kenyon Hall. Holland Kaplan ’27 had 16 kills in the win over William Smith. Julia Hale ’25 had 10 kills and six blocks in the victory over the Merchant Marine Academy.
Vassar opened the Liberty League season by splitting a pair of matches on the road on September 22 and 23. The Brewers fell to Clarkson University, 3-0, on September 22 but swept Skidmore College in straight sets the following day. Kaplan had 17 kills and five digs in the win over Skidmore.
Vassar defeated SUNY Maritime, 3-0, but fell in straight sets to William Paterson University on September 16 in Kenyon Hall. McAusland had 11 kills in the win over Maritime.
McAusland and Kaplan combined for 28 kills in Vassar’s four-set victory over SUNY New Paltz on September 13 in Kenyon Hall. Melia Voss ’26 had 31 assists.
The Brewers split four matches at the Vassar Quad tournament September 8 and 9 at Kenyon Hall. Vassar defeated the University of St. Joseph in straight sets and won three of four sets against the University of Hartford. The Brewers fell to Neumann University, 3-1, and Wheaton College, 3-2. Kaplan had 12 kills in the win over St. Joseph. Ellie Kogan ’26 had a team-high 16 digs in the win over Hartford.
Vassar dropped two of three matches at the Gordon Invitational September 1 and 2 on the Gordon College campus in Wenham, MA. The Brewers defeated Mount Saint Mary College, 3-0, but lost to Gordon College, 3-2, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 3-0. McAusland registered nine kills in the win over Mount Saint Mary. Kaplan had 22 kills, 11 digs, and three service aces in the loss to Gordon.
Field Hockey
Vassar suffered its first Liberty League loss of the season, falling 1-0 to the University of Rochester on October 7 on the Rochester campus. Goalkeeper Grace Wiley ’27 stopped six shots.
Tori Baker ’25 broke a 1-1 tie with a goal in the 48th minute, and the Brewers went on to defeat William Smith College, 3-1, on September 30 on Weinberg Turf Field. Jaclyn Narleski ’24 and Sofia Beseth ’26 scored Vassar’s other goals.
The Brewers opened their Liberty League season with a 2-0 victory over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute September 27 on Weinberg Turf Field. Juliana Ishimine ’24 and Karina Hoffman ’27 scored the goals.
Massachusetts Institute of Technology edged Vassar, 3-2, in double overtime on September 24 on Weinberg Turf Field. Beseth and Baker scored the Brewers’ goals.
Vassar fell to the University of Scranton, 4-2, on September 21 on the Scranton, PA, campus. Narleski scored both Vassar goals.
Vassar edged Kean (NJ) State University, 1-0, on September 19 on Weinberg Turf Field. Narleski scored on a deflection of a shot from Hailey Brigger ’24.
Vassar scored three goals in a six-minute span in the third period and defeated Ramapo (NJ) College, 4-0, September 16 on Weinberg Turf Field. Brigger had given the Brewers an early lead with a goal in the first period. Beseth added the second goal early in the third, and Baker scored a minute later. Narleski netted the final tally.
The Brewers lost to Christopher Newport University, 6-1, September 9 on the victors’ campus in Newport News, VA.
Vassar blanked Muhlenberg College, 3-0, on September 3 on Weinberg Turf Field. Beseth scored twice. Narleski also scored on an assist from Maggie Werner ’24.
Beseth scored a pair of goals in Vassar’s 4-0 win over Marywood University September 1 on Weinberg Turf Field.
Men’s Cross Country
Vassar finished 12th in a 38-team field at the NCAA Pre-Nationals Invitational on October 7 in Newville, PA. Miles Takiguchi ’24 was 11th overall in a field of 377 runners with a time of 25:10.3 in the 8k race.
Vassar finished third in a 15-team field at the 8k Fred Pavlich Invitational, hosted by Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson on September 23. Jose Magna ’25 and Aidan Mayer ’24 were 11th and 12th, respectively.
Vassar finished second in a six-team field at the Ron Stonitsch Invitational September 9 on the Vassar campus. Takiguchi and Mayer were third and fifth, respectively.
Takiguchi paced Vassar to a first-place finish at the Vassar Season Starter September 1 on the Vassar campus. He posted a time of 12:11.4, 15 seconds ahead of the field. Mayer was fourth overall in 12:30.2. Vassar defeated Union College, Stevens Institute of Technology, New York University, SUNY New Paltz, Bard College, and Mount Saint Mary College.
Women’s Cross Country
The Brewers finished eighth in a 38-team field at the NCAA Pre-Nationals Invitational October 7 in Newville, PA. Anika Mueller-Hickler ’26 was Vassar’s top runner, crossing the finish line in 20th place in a field of 359 runners.
Haley Schoenegge ’27 and Mueller-Hickler propelled Vassar to a first-place finish in a 15-team field at the 6k Fred Pavlich Invitational September 23 at Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson. Schoenegge and Mueller-Hickler were third and fourth, respectively.
Mueller-Hickler and Schoenegge paced the Brewers to a first-place finish at the Ron Stonitsch Invitational September 9 on the Vassar campus. The Brewers defeated Williams College, Ramapo College, Marywood University, Pace University, Bard College, and the University of Bridgeport. Mueller-Hickler was second overall with a time of 19:03.2. Schoenegge was third in 19:08.3.
Vassar finished second in a six-team field at the Vassar Season Starter September 1 on the Vassar campus. Mueller-Hickler finished third overall with a time of 11:03.4. New York University won the event with 25 points, followed by Vassar (33), Union College (84), Stevens Institute of Technology (124), SUNY New Paltz (129), and Mount Saint Mary College (181).
Men’s Rowing
The Varsity Eight posted a victory in the Poughkeepsie Regatta on September 30 on the Hudson River. Members of the crew were Gage Karlin ’24, Henry France ’26, Alex Roth ’24, Nick Winkler ’24, Jasper Piermarini ’26, Ben Vinson ’26, Trygve Aarstad ’26, Robert Gee ’26, and coxswain Jaen Fassler ’24.
Women’s Rowing
Vassar’s Varsity Four boats finished fifth and sixth at the Poughkeepsie Regatta on September 30 on the Hudson River. Members of the First Varsity Four were Bridgette Nally ’26, Sitota Blomquist ’26, Maria Mitchell ’24, Elsie McKendry ’26, and coxswain Abigail Straus ’25. Members of the Second Varsity Four were Dorien Laurens ’26, Madeleine Stewart ’26, Isabella Zumbolo ’26, Emily Kaplan ’26, and coxswain Taylor Frazier ’26.
Men’s Rugby
Vassar dropped a hard-fought match to Wesleyan University, 33-21, on October 7 on the Wesleyan campus in Middletown, CT. Will Smith ’27 and Martrel Usher ’27 scored tries for the Brewers.
Usher scored four tries in Vassar’s 85-0 shutout over SUNY Albany on October 1 on the SUNY Albany campus.
Usher scored a pair of tries in Vassar’s 39-0 victory over Seton Hall University on September 24 at Vassar Farm.
Vassar posted a pair of wins against SUNY Albany and Marist College on September 17 at Vassar Farm. Bryce DiNardo ’24 and Jack Gibberd ’25 scored tries in the win over Albany. Gibberd scored a penalty try against Marist.
Vassar opened the season with a 26-10 victory over Western New England University on September 9 in Springfield, MA. DiNardo had a pair of tries, and Kiran Mullen ’26 kicked three conversions.
Women’s Rugby
Columbia University topped Vassar, 28-20, on October 8 at Vassar Farm. Asia Baker ’24 scored twice.
Sabine Weil ’27 scored a pair of tries and Nadya LaMarr ’27 kicked four conversions in Vassar’s 52-0 victory over Molloy University on October 1 on the Molloy campus in Seaford, NY.
Vassar defeated Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, 34-5, on September 24 on the RPI campus in Troy, NY. Danny White ’25 scored twice for the Brewers. Zoe Lynch ’25 kicked a pair of conversions.
Baker scored three tries in Vassar’s 45-12 win over the University of Vermont on September 16 on the Vermont campus. Sophia Bailey ’26 scored twice, and Lynch kicked five conversions.
Penn State University defeated Vassar, 59-7, on September 10 at Vassar Farm. Baker scored the Brewers’ lone try.
Women’s Golf
The Brewers finished 18th in a 22-team field at the Williams Invitational September 23 and 24 in Williamstown, MA. Sufana Noorwez ’24 finished in a tie for 43rd place, posting scores of 83 and 81.
Vassar finished ninth in an 11-team field at the George Phinney Classic hosted by Middlebury College on September 15 and 16. Noorwez and Olivia Pocat ’27 finished in a tie for 35th place.
Vassar finished sixth in an 11-team field at the Hamilton Fall Invitational on September 9 and 10 on the Hamilton College campus in Clinton, NY. Noorwez finished 23rd overall with a 36-hole score of 169.
Men’s Tennis
Two Vassar doubles teams reached the semifinals of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northeast Regionals on October 1 in Madison, NJ. Nolan Kubiak ’26 and Ethan Mantell ’26 lost, 8-7 (7-5), to top seed Matthew Michibata and Harrison Maitland-Carter of the College of New Jersey. Jay Wong ’24 and Eugene Lee ’27 fell to Aiden Drover-Mattinen and Andy Zhu of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute by a score of 8-2.
Wong won his #1 singles match and teamed with Mantell for a victory in doubles, as the Brewers blanked Bard College, 9-0, on September 15. It was the inaugural match at Vassar’s Cretella Tennis Center.
Women’s Tennis
Erin McCusker ’26 reached the finals of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northeast Regionals, defeating Josephine Libby of the University of Rochester, 6-1, 6-4, in the semifinal match. McCusker lost in the finals, 6-2, 6-2, to Jimena Menendez of New York University. McCusker teamed with Sophie Shen ’24 to advance to the finals of the doubles tournament before losing by scores of 7-6, 6-7, 8-10 to Dakota Fordham and Isabella Hartmann of NYU. The tourney was held on September 23, 24, and 25 on the campus of Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, NY.
