Wenwei Du joined the Vassar faculty in 1994. He teaches Chinese language and literature courses. Having earned his PhD in Comparative Literature and Chinese at Washington University, he focuses his research on Chinese drama, theatre, film and popular culture.
Wenwei Du joined the Vassar faculty in 1994. He teaches Chinese language and literature courses. Having earned his PhD in Comparative Literature and Chinese at Washington University, he focuses his research on Chinese drama, theatre, film and popular culture.
Mr. Du’s publications include the book Bailaohui de Zhongguo ticai yu Zhongguo xiqu (Broadway Bound: Chinese Subjects and Chinese Theatre, Shanghai: Sanlian shudian, 2002) and articles that appeared in The China Quarterly, Asian Theatre Journal, CHINOPERL Papers, Screening the Past, Mime, Zhonghua xiqu (Traditional Chinese Theatre), Xiju (Drama), Xiqu yishu (Theatre Arts), Yishu baijia (Hundred Schools in Arts) and Huanqiu yinmu (World Screen). He has also published articles as book chapters on comparative and Chinese-American drama. He is currently the president of the Association of Chinese Oral and Performing Literature, an America-based association of international scholars in the field.
Mr. Du’s teaching interests include Chinese language, poetry, film, drama, fiction, and popular culture.
