James Joyce’s Ulysses: Text and Art
On exhibit October 8 - November 23, 2015
To accompany the exhibition "Ulysses Cylinders by Dale Chihuly," the Archives & Special Collections Library will mount a related exhibition titled “James Joyce’s Ulysses: Text and Art.” A variety of editions from the 20th century will be on display, including volumes illustrated by Eric Gill, Henri Matisse, and Robert Motherwell. Together these books outline the history of Joyce’s text, and also show the role of artistic interpretation. This exhibition will therefore provide context to Chihuly's Ulysses Cylinders, and allow visitors to reflect more widely on the production and reception of Joyce’s novel in western culture.
