Nia Bethel-Brescia ’25

Person smiling wearing a pink bandana and pink tank top.

Hello! My Name is Nia Bethel-Brescia. I’m a senior American Studies major and Dance correlate from Norwalk, CT. I came to American Studies out of a desire to resist historical amnesia, to address the continuing impacts of racial exploitation and violent colonial dispossession in structuring U.S. Society, and to make connections between these fraught histories and the present moment. My concentrations in American Studies are Abolition and Creative Practice, which I have gotten to explore through a range of incredible classes across disciplines including Africana Studies, Art, and Education. Besides dance, some of my creative pursuits include video art, drawing with crayons, and printmaking. I have previously worked at Vassar’s Center for Career Education providing career advising to peers and as a Programming Intern at Creative Time, a public-arts organization based in NYC. I’m very happy to be joining the AMST department as the Academic Intern for this year!

My office hours will be 10:00–11:30 a.m. on Mondays and 12:30–3:00 p.m. on Wednesdays in the OLB lounge.
