Old Laundry Building
Beginning in 2013, the Old Laundry Building housed Vassar's multidisciplinary programs, including the Africana Studies Program, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2019. In 1988, Vassar commissioned renowned African American artist Jacob Lawrence to create a work on paper in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the Africana Studies Program, and in 2019 acquired six prints by some of the most prominent artists of the community of African American quiltmakers living in the remote community of Gee’s Bend, Alabama, in commemoration of the program's 50th anniversary. These works are all housed in the permanent collection of the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center.
