Department of Communications

Dear all,

I am writing to announce a transition in leadership in the Department of Communications.  Amanita Duga-Carroll has resigned from her position as Vice President for Communications at Vassar to pursue other interests.  Over the months ahead, we will conduct a national search for a new Vice President of Communications.

In the five years Amanita was in the position, Communications had remarkable achievements including enhancing the coverage of faculty research and college programs in the media, transforming the college’s website and approach to social media, and ensuring the college communicated clearly, consistently, and quickly through turbulent times including the COVID-19 pandemic. I am grateful for Amanita’s contributions during this time and she will be missed.

Effective immediately, Gladwyn Lopez will be the Interim Vice President for Communications.  The senior leadership team in Communications reporting to Gladwyn will include Daria Robbins, Associate Vice President for Creative Direction, Liz Randoph, Associate Vice President for Editorial and Production, and Deborah Swartz as Director of Social Media.
