On April 26, a group of high school juniors from New York City came to campus as part of Sound Business Inc.’s Liberal Arts College Exploratory Workshops aimed at providing students with a better understanding of a liberal arts college education.
SBI had been to Vassar before, pre-Covid, and this was their first post-Covid event. All the students are enrolled in SBI’s College and Career Preparatory Institute (based in A. Philip Randolph Campus High School since 1991). The SBI director, Charles Thompson, writes to say that most of the students will be first-generation college enrollees and students of color whose families immigrated from Central America, Mexico, West Africa, the Caribbean Islands, and South Asia.
