Does Vassar have a mobile app?
Stay connected to the Vassar community from the palm of your hand with Vassar Mobile, the official app of Vassar College. New students can choose the student profile and explore the New Student screen for easy access to information and resources. You can expect the Orientation schedule and resources to be delivered in the app as well. The app is constantly evolving and provides a host of useful features including news and notifications, event and academic calendars, campus map, dining, laundry view, and more.
After you've claimed your accounts, you can display your pronouns in your email signature, in your Google profile, in Zoom meetings, and in Moodle so your professors and peers will be able to honor your preferences. You can find instructions for how to make those changes here.
Where can I update my chosen name?
After you’ve claimed your accounts, you can update your chosen display name in many Vassar systems including Google, Moodle, and the online directory. Simply edit your profile to include your chosen name and hit “save.” Your Google and Moodle display name will reflect the change within 24 hours. Your online directory entry will be updated the following day after the nightly data refresh. Your legal name will still appear in the system of record and wherever a legal name is required.

How do I connect my personal computer to the network?
Vassar has a high-speed network that supports both wired and wireless (WiFi) connections from every dorm room as well as almost every other location on campus. Once students are on campus and have claimed their Vassar email address, they should be sure to start using the eduroam WiFi network (not Vassar Guest). Once you have your Vassar credentials, you can learn more about connecting to eduroam.
Can I bring streaming devices, smart assistants, game consoles and other WiFi-enabled Devices to campus?
Vassar provides a separate network to register these types of devices. Devices that broadcast their own network name (SSID), such as wireless routers, can cause disruption to the wireless signal and may be blocked by our network. If you are unsure if the device you’d like to bring is allowed, contact the Service Desk with specifics about your device.
What is the recommended configuration for personal computers on campus?
Yes. As an Apple Authorized Service Provider, the Service Desk is able to perform repairs on Apple products and while our Service Desk doesn’t have Apple inventory for sale on campus, students are able to purchase Apple computers through our online store for education discounts. For questions about the store, contact the Service Desk.
How do I access my Vassar accounts?
Instructions for claiming your Vassar College account are provided in your Applicant Status Portal around mid-May.
It is recommended that you activate your account as soon as you get the information. The account claim process will require you to set 4 challenge questions and a 15–30 character passphrase. Once you’ve done this, you may go to mail.google.com/ or any Google login prompt to access your Google Apps account.
If you do not claim your account or lose the claim sent to you, you will have to contact the Service Desk at (845) 437-7224 or email the Service Desk to claim your account.
Vassar utilizes single sign-on for many services (known as VassarOne), so once you are logged into one, you are logged into others such as Google, Moodle, Banner, JobX, Residence, and more. You can use VassarOne to easily launch many of these services. For your security, it’s important to be diligent about logging out and quitting your browser, particularly on shared computers, so you don’t inadvertently remain logged in.
What are some services available to Vassar students?
CIS offers a wide range of computing and technology services to students. Once your account is activated, you can use VassarOne to easily launch many of these services or visit our Service Desk Portal to browse our service catalog.
How do I print on campus?
VPrint is Vassar College’s print management system. It is available all over campus and all active students receive a quota assigned to their Vassar student ID card. You can print in color by sending your print jobs to the color queue (called Vassar_Color on a Mac and Vassar Color Printer on a PC).
VPrint printer/copiers are multi-function devices capable of large volume printing, duplexing, copying and stapling. They are accessible to students, faculty, and employees of the College.
Please do not bring your own printer to campus. WiFi-enabled printers broadcasting their own network name (SSID) can cause disruption to the wireless signal and may be blocked by our network. These types of signals degrade the quality of the wireless signal for you and those located in the vicinity of the signal.
If you plan to bring a printer to connect directly to your computer, be sure the WiFi is disabled. Google “how to disable wifi broadcasting on a wireless printer” or contact the Service Desk for assistance.
