Update on incident at the Townhouses
Dear Vassar Community,
I am writing with an update about the armed burglary that took place in the Townhouses last night.
I am so relieved and thankful to tell you that our students are safe. Vassar Safety & Security and Town of Poughkeepsie Police have searched the area and believe the suspects are no longer on campus.
A full investigation by the police is underway, and Vassar is assisting in every way possible. We have requested the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department increase police presence in the area, and we have also increased our own Security patrols.
Please remember to keep your doors locked and remember to take personal safety measures.
Anyone who saw anything out of the ordinary or has information they believe to be pertinent is urged to call The Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department: (845) 485-3666.
Both Dean Alamo and I are on campus and available all weekend so feel free to reach out to us. And of course, counselors are available in Metcalf during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. If you need to speak to a counselor after normal business hours, the Counselor on Call is available by calling the Campus Response Center at (845) 437-7333.
Let’s remember to take care of each other and those affected by this incident.
Thinking of you,
Elizabeth H. Bradley, President
