Message From President Bradley On Latest Efforts Responding to COVID-19 (Coronavirus)
Dear all,
I am writing to update you on our latest efforts in responding to the COVID-19 outbreak, as the situation continues to evolve rapidly. While there are no known cases of COVID-19 on the Vassar campus, with our community’s public health and safety paramount in our minds, today Vassar’s senior officers and I have made a variety of changes and updates to Vassar’s policies and procedures. These include:
- International Travel: As of March 10, 2020, all Vassar College-sponsored international travel is suspended until further notice. Students and faculty who are already participating in a Vassar or Vassar approved program based internationally or with an international component will not be called back at this time, although the College is closely monitoring conditions globally and may revise that at any time. - Events: Beginning March 11, 2020, all events sponsored by external groups of more than 100 people are cancelled until further notice. At this time, we are not setting limits on the size of events sponsored by and for the Vassar community.
- Distance Learning and Remote Work: Planning is currently underway for implementing distance learning (which could occur on or off campus) and remote work. We recognize this is very complicated and will have different implications for different people in our community. Our goal is to facilitate the best possible learning atmosphere for everyone. We will provide an update on this later in the week.
Vassar is committed to the education of our students and safety of the Vassar community. In these tumultuous and changing times, I am thankful for the creative, resilient, and caring community that is Vassar.
