Employee Recognition
May 4, 2021
Dear all,
Thank you for all you did for our community throughout the pandemic. We are full of gratitude for Vassar’s collective commitment, creatively, and resilience. We did it!
The care that our community showed to each other throughout this pandemic brings true meaning to the VassarTogether ethos We Precedes Me. Whether working on campus or remotely, everyone has adapted and developed new ways of getting the job done. As a result, we were able to keep our doors open and fulfill our mission of providing the highest quality liberal arts education in a diverse and inclusive setting. Beyond what we have seen ourselves, the senior officers have spoken up time and again, describing the many ways in which you have overcome the challenges that we have all faced this year.
Due to your hard work and the cost saving measures implemented this year, we were able to balance the budget—even as many institutions of higher education are in financial crises. As a result, Vassar is pleased to provide a one-time payment in recognition of your tremendous contributions and sacrifices during this year. This one-time payment is in addition to your annual raise. Full-time employees who were actively employed at Vassar on May 1, 2021 and who started before January 1, 2021 will receive $1,000; part-time benefits eligible employees who were actively employed at Vassar on May 1, 2021 and who started before January 1, 2021 will receive $500; part-time employees who were actively employed at Vassar on May 1, 2021 and who started before January 1, 2021 and who are not eligible for benefits will receive $250; and employees who started after January 1, 2021 will receive a partial payment. The payment will be in the late May paycheck. If you have questions, contact humanresources@vassar.edu or call (845) 437-5820.
We could not have made it through this pandemic without you, and we appreciate and value all that you give to Vassar. Thank you so very much.
