The Passing of Ariana Salguero

Dear all,

It is with a heavy heart that I write to let you know that, after a year-long struggle with cancer, Ariana Salguero, Class of 2020, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on May 21. As founder of the tutoring organization VUELA and member of MEChA, Ariana was a dynamic advocate for students in the Poughkeepsie school district. She conducted independent research in Colombia, interned in the Field Museum in Chicago, served as departmental intern, and graduated with honors in LALS and Anthropology, despite her health condition.

A visitation will be held at the Symonds Lakes Funeral Home in Grayslake, IL, on May 26, followed by a 9:30 AM funeral mass on May 27 at Saint Joseph’s Church in Ariana's home town, Round Lake, IL. Expressions of support for Ariana's family are most welcome.
