Sad News: Rianna Jonelle Armstrong

Dear all,

I write with sad news. Andrea Hall’s daughter, Rianna Jonelle Armstrong, died suddenly last week. Rianna worked at IBM as the New Product Introduction Coordinator. Andrea has worked in Dining Services since 2013, and we extend our deep condolences and sympathy to her and Rianna’s loved ones who have suffered this devastating loss.

On Friday, June 28, family and friends will gather at the Chapel at Vassar for a 10 a.m. viewing (with casket) and an 11 a.m. celebration of life. A repass will follow in the Villard Room.

To extend condolences, you may contact Andrea by email, or work with Dean Dennis Macheska (dmacheska@vassar.edu). Service Employees International Union (SEIU) is also working on ways to support Andrea during this time. If you wish to assist Andrea financially, you may contribute to this Go Fund Me.

The College has resources for anyone having difficulty coping with this news. For students on campus this summer, the Care Coordination, Advocacy, Resources, and Education (CARES) Office can help connect students with local support resources. The Counseling Service website also includes helpful information about Summer and Semester Break Resources. Employees may receive free, immediate, short-term counseling through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) by calling 1-800-624-5544. Employees may also schedule free and unlimited phone or video counseling sessions through TelaDoc/HealthiestYou by calling 1-866-703-1259.

Let us keep Andrea and her family in our hearts and minds in this time of tremendous loss.
