James Beaty ’05 is a business development and market research professional, advising clients in the financial services sector on risk analysis in emerging markets. As part of his professional career, James has extensive experience calling on multilateral institutions such as the World Bank and International Monetary Fund, attending annual ministerial meetings globally for over a decade. James has supported investment strategies across numerous sectors, including digital currencies, energy infrastructure, sustainable farming, critical minerals, and emerging technology.
Since 2012, James has been a member of Vassar’s President’s Advisory Council, co-chairing the council since 2016. James has served as the co-chair of the Loeb Leadership Council at the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center at Vassar since 2021. James takes great pride and fulfillment in celebrating the women in his family who have a Vassar education.

James has a B.A. in English from Vassar and was a member of the Varsity crew team. He is an avid golfer and a vociferous reader. James and his wife Ashley reside in Washington, D.C.
