Dr. Jonathan Michael Square: Fashioning the Self in Slavery and Freedom

Jonathan Michael Square is Assistant Professor at Parsons School of Design and a fellow in the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. His work focuses on the history of enslavement through a fashion lens, and he has written for a variety of publications such as Ms. Magazine, Hyperallergic, and Small Axe among others. Dr. Square will speak about his present research, which explores connections between histories of enslavement and the fashion system.
