This event is co-sponsored by the Vassar Biology Department and the Bio Majors Committee.

Please register for this event. Parking is available free-of-charge and refreshments will be served.

“Biological invasion is a major, multidimensional challenge in the Hudson Valley,” says Professor Schniedewind. “It is also a phenomenon with deep historical roots in the region, bound up with racial slavery and its aftermath, the displacement of Indigenous peoples, and the establishment of a colonial society. This talk asks what it could mean to approach biological invasion as an environmental justice issue whose ramifications were never only ecological. How might Indigenous-led responses to biological invasion from near and far shape how the invasive-species challenge is conceptualized and addressed?”
