“Standing on the Edge of a Dream,” featuring Saba Hamzah
Taylor 203
Saba Hamzah will share her poetry and speak on themes of women, home, exile, and identity. Hamzah is a feminist poet, scholar, activist, and educator based in the Netherlands. Her multidisciplinary work centers on women in Yemen and the Yemeni diaspora. Hamzah’s poetry and scholarship is situated at the intersections of knowledge production, memory, and transitional justice, taking a decolonial approach to these themes. She is the founder of the Yemeni Women’s Archive and is completing a fellowship at the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. Hamzah has guest lectured on poetry as pedagogy in multiple Vassar courses through the Consortium on Forced Migration, Displacement and Education’s Digital Scholars Fellowship.
