Haoming Lui has a Spring 2024 Fellowship from the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences at Peking University

Haoming Liu, Professor of Chinese and Japanese, is spending the Spring 2024 Semester as a visiting professor in the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences (IHSS) at Peking University on a fellowship awarded by the University.

During his stay there, he is working on his study and translation of Friedrich Hölderlin’s odes and has so far given a series of talks on Hölderlin (in the German Department); on the comparative study of classical textual criticism (in IHSS); and on Pindar (at the Center for Classical Studies). He is also co-organizing a workshop on literary translation with Professor Gao Fengfeng of the English Department at Peking University and a poetry reading session with Professor Gao and Professor Hu Wei of the German Department.

The Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences (IHSS) at Peking University is an academic organization centering on the foundational disciplines in humanities and social sciences. Based on a four-month visiting-fellow program, its aim is to enhance interdisciplinary research and international conversation. The ethos of IHSS is to “inquire and inspire.”
