Women’s Rugby

Caeli Porette ’23 and Sophia Bailey ’26 each scored four tries in Vassar’s 78-24 victory over the United States Coast Guard Academy in the Division II championship game of the Collegiate Rugby Association of America December 4 in Matthews, NC. Zoe Lynch ’25 kicked nine conversions. Porette was named Tournament MVP. 

The Brewers defeated Temple University, 51-17, in the CRAA semifinals December 3. Asia Baker ’24 scored five tries.

Vassar advanced to the Final Four of the College Rugby Association of America championships with a 28-10 victory over Fairfield (CT) University in the Tri-State Conference finals November 6 on the Fairfield campus. Bailey had a pair of tries, and Lynch kicked four conversions.

Vassar advanced to the third round of the Tri-State Conference Championships with a 76-19 win over Marist College October 30 at Vassar Farm. Porette scored four tries, and Bailey added three. Lynch kicked eight conversions.

Vassar jumped out to an early lead and held on to defeat Bowdoin College, 26-19, October 29 on the Bowdoin campus in Brunswick, ME. Andie Authers ’25 tallied a pair of tries.

Vassar suffered its first loss of the season October 22, falling to Fairfield University, 41-19, on the Fairfield, CT, campus. Lynch scored a try and kicked two conversions.

Men’s Rugby

The Brewers (2-2) closed out the fall season with a 61-0 win over Montclair (NJ) State University October 30 at Vassar Farm. Bryce DiNardo ’24 and Tyler Eberts ’23 each scored three tries.

Carl Aller ’23 scored three tries, and DiNardo had two, propelling Vassar to a 40-11 victory over Seton Hall University October 23 on the Seton Hall campus in East Orange, NJ. Alex Papasavas ’24 kicked five conversions.

Men’s Soccer

Vassar (9-3-7, 5-0-4 Liberty League) lost to Bowdoin College November 13 in a penalty kick shootout in the second round of the NCAA Division III tournament on the Bowdoin campus in Brunswick, ME. Duncan Keker ’25 converted a penalty kick in the 77th minute of regulation to tie the score at 1-1, and neither team was able to score in overtime. Bowdoin won the shootout, 4-1.

Goalkeeper Eric Wnorowski ’23 made eight saves in regulation play and two more in a penalty kick shootout to lift Vassar to a victory over Babson College November 12 in the first round of the NCAA Division III playoffs. The game was played on the campus of Bowdoin College in Brunswick, ME. The teams traded goals in regulation play. Owen Fauth ’23 tallied for the Brewers in the 68th minute to tie the score.

Vassar fell in the semifinals of the Liberty League tournament on a penalty kick shootout to Skidmore College on November 4. The Brewers and Thoroughbreds battled to a 0-0 draw in regulation and overtime on Gordon Field, but Skidmore won the shootout, 3-2. Vassar outshot Skidmore, 16-14, and had a 16-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Vassar finished the Liberty League regular season with a 2-1 victory over Ithaca College October 29 on the Ithaca, NY, campus. Ithaca scored the first goal of the game early in the second half, but the Brewers responded with tallies from Jared Fiske ’26 and Fauth.

Keker broke a 1-1 tie early in the second half with a header on a corner kick, and Vassar went on to defeat Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, 2-1, October 26 on Gordon Field.

Vassar and Hobart College battled to a 1-1 draw October 22 on Gordon Field. Diego Pastor-Valverde ’26 scored on a pass from Otis Widman ’26 just before halftime.

Women’s Soccer

Vassar (8-5-5, 4-2-3 Liberty League) finished the season with a 3-1 loss to Rochester Institute of Technology November 1 in the quarterfinals of the Liberty League tournament. Jessica Young ’23 knotted the score at 1-1 late in the first half, but RIT scored a pair of goals in the second half.

Team captain Violet Munnelly ’23 celebrated Senior Day by scoring early in the second half, and the Brewers held on for a 1-0 win over Ithaca College October 29 on Gordon Field.

Vassar survived a slow start and battled Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute to a 0-0 tie October 26 on the RPI campus in Troy, NY. The Engineers had a 4-0 advantage in shots in the first half, but Vassar had several good scoring chances in the second half. Keeper Teresa Zimmer ’24 registered two saves.

Vassar and William Smith College, the fifth-ranked team in the country, battled to a 0-0 tie October 22 on the William Smith campus in Geneva, NY. 

Men’s Basketball

Jack Rothenberg ’23 scored 16 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and handed out nine assists in Vassar’s 75-58 victory over Union College December 6 at the Athletics and Fitness Center.

The Brewers fell to Hobart College, 75-64, December 3 on the Hobart campus in Geneva, NY. Avni Mustafaj ’23 and Kevin McAuliffe ’23 each scored 13 points.

Ethan Ellis ’23 scored on a tip-in at the buzzer to lead Vassar to a 75-73 victory over Ithaca College December 2 on the Ithaca, NY, campus. Rothenberg led all Vassar scorers with 21 points. Mustafaj added 18.

McAuliffe ignited a second-half comeback that propelled the Brewers to a 61-48 victory over Mount Saint Mary’s College November 19 in the Athletics and Fitness Center. Vassar trailed at the half, 25-19, but McAuliffe drained a pair of three-pointers in the opening minutes of the second half, and the Brewers led the rest of the way. He led all scorers with 22 points.

Vassar jumped out to a double-digit lead in the first half and went on to defeat SUNY New Paltz, 85-76, November 18 on the campus of Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson. Mustafaj connected on 14 of 21 shots and finished with 36 points, a career high.

Widener University used a strong second half to defeat Vassar, 69-51, in the finals of the Widener Tip-Off Tournament on the Chester, PA, campus. The Brewers trailed 23-22 at halftime but were outscored the rest of the way, 46-29. Ellis led Vassar with 13 points.

Mustafaj led a balanced scoring attack, as Vassar opened the season with a 63-59 victory over Stevens Institute of Technology November 11 on the campus of Widener College in Chester, PA. Ellis finished with 10 points and Rothenberg had nine points and 10 rebounds.

Women’s Basketball

Vassar edged Union College, 60-54 in overtime, December 6 at the Athletics and Fitness Center. A layup by Tova Gelb ’24 tied the game with less than a minute left in the fourth quarter. Sierra McDermed ’26 led all Vassar scorers with 17 points.

Ithaca College defeated Vassar, 69-31, December 2 on the Ithaca, NY, campus. Naiya Kurnik ’26 had eight points and five rebounds.

Alex Lee ’23 led the Brewers to a 74-54 win over William Smith College December 3 in Geneva, NY. Lee scored 18 points, connecting on seven of 13 shots from the floor. She also had a team-high six rebounds.

Bella Tawney ’26 made a pair of free throws with 12 seconds remaining to lift Vassar to a 59-58 victory over SUNY New Paltz November 22 at the Athletics and Fitness Center. McDermed led a balanced scoring attack with 10 points. Maddie Ahearn ’26 was 4-for-4 from the field and finished with nine points.

New York University defeated Vassar, 80-44, November 18 in the Athletics and Fitness Center. Julia Harvey ’25 led all Brewers’ scorers with 13 points.

Williams College posted a 74-50 victory over Vassar November 15 on the Williams campus in Williamstown, MA. Harvey paced the Brewers with 11 points.

Vassar lost to Hamilton College, 71-60, in the finals of the Hochberg Family Tip-Off Tournament November 12 at the Athletics and Fitness Center. Lee led all Vassar scorers with 16 points.

The Brewers defeated Nazareth College, 76-62, in the opening round of the Hochberg Family Tip-Off Tournament November 11 at the Athletics and Fitness Center. McDermed was 6-for-11 from beyond the three-point arc and scored 28 points.

Montclair (NJ) State University staged a fourth-quarter rally and defeated Vassar, 62-57, November 8 on the Montclair campus. The Brewers were outscored by a 24-11 margin in the final 10 minutes. Harvey scored 16 points, and Kurnik finished with 10 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

Field Hockey

Vassar (13-6, 6-3 Liberty League) fell to the University of Rochester, 2-0, in the semifinals of the Liberty League tournament November 4 on the Rochester, NY, campus. The Brewers outshot Rochester by a 13-5 margin. Gianna Trunfio ’25 had three shots on goal. 

Vassar advanced to the semifinals of the Liberty League tournament with a 2-0 win over Skidmore College November 1 on Weinberg Turf Field. Jaclyn Narleski ’24 and Hailey Brigger ’24 scored first-half goals.

The Brewers lost their regular season finale, 1-0, to SUNY New Paltz, October 29 on Weinberg Turf Field. Keeper Sarah Dumaresq ’24 had four saves.

Trunfio scored her ninth and 10th goals of the season, leading Vassar to a 2-1 victory over the University of Scranton October 26 on Weinberg Turf Field.

The Brewers edged St. Lawrence University, 2-1, October 23 on the St. Lawrence campus in Canton, NY. Sam Kass ’23 opened the scoring in the 11th minute of the game, and Brigger tallied 13 minutes later.

Men’s Cross County

Miles Takiguchi ’23 finished 98th in a field of 294 at the NCAA Division III Championships November 19 on the campus of Michigan State University in Lansing, MI. Takiguchi posted a time of 26:05.2 in the 8k race.

Vassar finished seventh in a 23-team field at the NCAA Mideast Regionals November 12 on the campus of St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY. Takiguchi finished seventh overall in the 8k race with a time of 25:39.1. Aidan Mayer ’24 was 23rd with a time of 26:23.2.

Vassar won the ECAC Championships November 5 in Milton, NY. Levi Lilienthal ’25 finished fifth overall with a time of 29:10.0 on the 8k course. Arlo Rucker ’26 was seventh.

Takiguchi finished seventh overall at the Liberty League Championships October 29 on Vassar Farm. He completed the 8k course in 25:15.1. The Brewers finished third in an eight-team field.

Women’s Cross Country

Augusta Stockman ’23 finished in the top half of the field at the NCAA Division III Championships November 18 on the campus of Michigan State University in Lansing, MI. Stockman posted a time of 21:06.5 in the 6k race, finishing 142nd in a 292-runner field.

Stockman earned All-Region honors, finishing 11th overall, at the NCAA Mideast Regionals November 12 on the campus of St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY. Stockman posted a time of 23:01.2. Vassar finished sixth in a 21-team field.

Sophie Farr ’25 was 13th overall at the ECAC Championships November 5 in Milton, NY. Farr was Vassar’s lone competitor in the event. She posted a time of 29:17.7 on the 6k course.

Stockman and Clara Wiesler ’24 earned all-conference honors at the Liberty League Championships October 29 at Vassar Farm. Stockman finished sixth overall with a time of 23:12.4 in the 6k race. Wiesler was seventh in 23:18.7.

Women’s Volleyball

Vassar (4-21, 3-5 Liberty League) closed out the season with a 3-0 loss to Rochester Institute of Technology November 1 on the RIT campus. Hailey Hayes ’25 finished with 10 kills and a service ace.

Vassar dropped a pair of matches October 29 at Kenyon Hall, falling to SUNY New Paltz in straight sets and losing to William Paterson University, 3-2. Hayes had 21 kills in the loss to William Paterson.

Montclair (NJ) State University defeated the Brewers in straight sets October 26 on the Montclair campus. Hayes had four kills and three service aces.

Rochester Institute of Technology posted a 3-0 win over Vassar October 22 on the Rochester, NY, campus. Hayes had five kills and two blocks. Noa McCrane ’26 registered a team-high eight digs.

Vassar fell to Liberty League leader Ithaca College in straight sets October 21 on the Ithaca, NY, campus. Hayes and Frannie Anthony-Brumfield ’25 had seven kills apiece.

Women’s Swimming and Diving

Vassar finished third in a 10-team field at the Bombers Invitational December 2-4 on the campus of Ithaca College. Bella Rippon ’26 won the 200-yard individual medley with a season-best time of 2:09.72. The 200-yard medley relay team of Sarah Quintana ’24, Abbe Colgan ’26, Lillian Lowenthal ’23, and Abby Whittington ’23 finished second.

Colgan won the 100-yard breaststroke and was part of the winning 200-yard medley relay team as the Brewers downed SUNY New Paltz, 161.5 to 97.5, in the New Paltz pool.

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute defeated Vassar, 184-115, November 12 in the RPI pool in Troy, NY. The medley relay team of Colgan, Quintana, Lowenthal, and Whittington finished second in 1:51.129.

Vassar posted a 165-118 win over Skidmore College November 5 in Kresge Pool. Adie Wiener ’26 won the 200-yard freestyle. Colgan was part of the winning 200-yard medley relay team and won the 100-yard breaststroke.

Abigail McLaughlin ’26 won a pair of events in Vassar’s 180.5-to-109.5 win over Montclair (NJ) State University October 28 in Kresge Pool. McLaughlin posted a time of 2:00.64 in her win in the 200-yeard freestyle, and she won the 100-yard freestyle in 55.85. Quintana won the 200-yard backstroke and finished second in the 1,000-yard freestyle.

Vassar opened the season with a 165-119 victory over Brandeis University October 22 at Kresge Pool. Colgan won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:09.87. Evelyn Boyle ’23 was first in the one-meter diving competition.

Men’s Swimming and Diving

The Brewers finished seventh in a nine-team field at the Bombers Invitational December 2–4 on the Ithaca College campus. The 400-yard medley relay team of Sam DeLuca ’26, Anthony Cheng ’23, Ben Glazebnik ’25 and Hayden Ehrenfeld ’25 was sixth overall. Jason Albaum ’23 was eighth in the 200-yard butterfly.

Vassar posted its first win of the season November 18, defeating SUNY New Paltz, 152-109, in the New Paltz pool. The 200-yard medley relay team of Deluca, Cheng, Albaum, and Ehrenfeld led off the night with a victory. Robbie Perot ’23 won the 1,000-yard freestyle.

The Brewers fell to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, 187-87, November 12 in the RPI pool in Troy, NY. The medley relay team of Deluca, Cheng, Albaum, and Ehrenfeld finished second with a time of 1:41.22.

Skidmore College edged Vassar, 155-143, November 5 at Kresge Pool. Perot won the 1,000-yard freestyle. Jacob Cerone ’25 was second in the one-meter diving competition.

Vassar fell to Montclair (NJ) State University, 149-123, October 28 in Kresge Pool. Deluca, Cheng, Ehrenfeld, and Glazebnik posted a second-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay.

The Brewers fell to Brandeis University, 183.5 to 97.5, October 22 at Kresge Pool.  Cheng, Ehrenfeld, Albaum, and Perot finished second in the 200-yard medley relay. Cerone won the one-meter diving competition.

Men’s Rowing

The men’s Novice Eight finished eighth overall at the Head of the Fish Regatta October 29 in Saratoga Springs, NY. Members of the crew were coxswain Abigail Straus ’25, Robert Gee ’26, Trygve Aarestad ’26, Jasper Piermarini ’26, T. Charles Martin ’26, Henry France ’26, Patrick Horiszny ’26, John Matter ’25, and Oscar Rendall Todd ’26.

Women’s Rowing

Vassar’s Novice Four finished 13th overall at the Head of the Fish Regatta October 29 in Saratoga Springs, NY. Members of the crew were coxswain Brooklyn Walsh ’25 and Risha Kulkarni ’25, Kathleen Brawley ’25, Cayla Kallman ’25, and Elsie McKendry ’26.

Vassar defeated Sacred Heart University, 15-12, but dropped five other contests December 4 on the Sacred Heart campus in Fairfield, CT. The Brewers lost to Harvard University, New York University, Princeton University, Penn State University, and New Jersey Institute of Technology. Brian Li ’26 won nine matches in epee.

Vassar posted victories against seven opponents to win the Matt Lampell Invite November 20 at Walker Field House. The Brewers defeated Army, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Drew University, Binghamton University, Rochester Institute of Technology, Marist College, and Cornell University, winning 155 of 181 matches.

The Brewers won five of eight matches at the Vassar Invitational November 13 at Walker Field House. They posted wins over Drew University, Hunter College, Haverford College, Lafayette College, and Long Island University but lost to Cleveland State University, Stevens Institute of Technology, and Johns Hopkins University.

Eli Weise ’25 and Li each reached the round of eight in epee competition at the Northeast Intercollegiate Fencing Conference “Big One” tournament November 5 in Northampton, MA.

The Brewers opened the season on October 30 by winning four of six matches on the campus of Drew University in Madison, NJ. Vassar defeated Drew, 18-9; Army, 20-7, Clemson University, 24-3, and Yeshiva University, 25.1. The Brewers fell to Stevens Institute of Technology, 14-13, and New Jersey Institute of Technology, 21-6. Li finished the day with a 13-2 record in epee, and Oliver Berger ’26 was 13-2 in saber.

Women’s Fencing

Vassar lost six matches at the Tradition Invite hosted on December 4 by Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT. The Brewers were defeated by Sacred Heart, Harvard University, New York University, Princeton University, Penn State University and Temple University. Hunter Grogan ’24 posted four victories in foil competition.

The Brewers defeated six of seven teams at the Matt Lampell Invite November 20 at Walker Field House. Vassar posted wins over Bryn Mawr College, Rochester Institute of Technology, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Army, City College of New York, and Yeshiva University but lost to Drew University.

The Brewers posted a 3-4 record at the Vassar Invitational November 13 at Walker Field House. Vassar defeated Fairleigh Dickinson University, Haverford College, and Drew University but lost to Long Island University, Lafayette College, Wagner College, and Denison University. Abigail Geiger ’26 finished with a 16-4 record in saber.

Sarah Boucher-Rowe ’26 won 10 of 11 matches to earn second place in the epee competition at the Northeast Intercollegiate Fencing Conference “Big One” tournament November 5 in Northampton, MA. Hunter Grogan ’24 posted five wins in foil.

Men’s Squash

Vassar lost by 9-0 scores in matches against Middlebury College, Brown University, Hobart College, and Wesleyan University on December 2 and 3 at Kenyon Hall.

Vassar dropped matches to Connecticut College, 9-0, and Haverford College, 7-2, November 19 at Kenyon Hall. No. 1 Rithik Jalali ’24 and No. 6 Jarid Haslinger ’25 posted the Brewers’ only victories. 

Vassar won 25 of 27 matches at the Bard College Round Robin November 12 on the Bard campus in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY. The Brewers defeated Bard and the University of Connecticut by 8-1 scores, and blanked Swarthmore College, 9-0. Haslinger earned Liberty League Performer of the Week honors with three victories.

Vassar opened the season with a pair of 5-4 losses to Fordham University and Boston University November 5 at Kenyon Hall. Jalali earned a victory at No. 1 in the match against Fordham. Sameer Mustafa ’23 won his match at No. 2 against BU.

Women’s Squash

Vassar was blanked by Middlebury College, Brown University, William Smith College, and Wesleyan University December 3 and 4 at Kenyon Hall.

Vassar fell to Connecticut College, 7-2, and was blanked by Haverford College, 9-0. Olivia Berkson ’24 and Sehar Dey-Kohli ’24 posted victories for the Brewers.

Vassar opened the season with victories over Fordham University, Boston University, and Northeastern University November 5 at Kenyon Hall. Luna Kang ’26 won all three of her matches at No. 1.
