Vassar College’s Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center presents a summer of art with exhibitions ranging from Robert Rauschenberg’s news-inspired screen prints and a related photo display, drawings by sculptor Harry Roseman, and a poignant commemoration of Juneteenth.

Vassar College teamed up last week with Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth) to administer more than 500 doses of COVID-19 vaccine to students. About 440 students were vaccinated on campus last Monday and an additional 85 received their shots at MidHudson Regional Hospital in the Town of Poughkeepsie on Friday, April 16. College President Elizabeth H. Bradley said more vaccine is expected to be delivered soon.

President Elizabeth H. Bradley announced yesterday that Vassar will return to fully in-person learning and resume most pre-pandemic policies and protocols for the Fall 2021 Semester. Additionally, she announced that the College will require all students to be vaccinated.

Vassar College’s ALANA Center, which provides resources and programs for students of color, will be named for Professor Jeh Vincent Johnson, the pioneering African American architect and former Vassar faculty member who designed it. President Elizabeth H. Bradley made the announcement as part of last weekend’s African American Alumnae/i of Vassar College (AAAVC) Triennial, which celebrates the contributions of African American alumnae/i, students, faculty, administrators, and staff of Vassar College. Johnson died in January.

Grammy Award winners Wyclef Jean and Jerry Wonda will be featured at the Vassar Haiti Project’s (VHP) annual Art & Soul Gala, which will be held virtually on April 29. The organization will honor Vassar College President Elizabeth H. Bradley and Dr. Carole M. Berotte Joseph, City University of New York Professor Emeritus and past president of Bronx Community College and Massachusetts Bay Community College, at the event. Vassar’s Archives and Special Collections Library will host an online exhibition of the works of noted Hudson Valley photographer Eric Lindbloom, the College announced. The exhibit may be viewed at https://vclibrary.vassarspaces.net/workprints/

Jessica O. Matthews, an award-winning innovator and entrepreneur, will deliver the address at Vassar’s 157th Commencement on June 6, President Elizabeth H. Bradley announced. Matthews, a Poughkeepsie native, is the Founder and CEO of Uncharted Power, a sustainable infrastructure company that helps cities turn their sidewalks into data centers to improve grid resilience, broadband connectivity, and mobility. The company recently partnered with Poughkeepsie to demonstrate the potential of this new technology.
