Professor Ciccariello-Maher is the author of Anticolonial Eruptions
George Ciccariello-Maher, Visiting Associate Professor of Political Science, is the author of Anticolonial Eruptions: Racial Hubris and the Cunning of Resistance, forthcoming for 2022 from the University of California Press. This study explores a deficiency built into the foundations of white supremacist power that, paradoxically, can undergird the resistance—a paradox Professor Ciccariello-Maher describes as the cunning of decolonization, or a reversal of the balance of power between the oppressor and the oppressed. Anticolonial Eruptions argues that this fundamental weakness of colonialism may indeed be its undoing, providing grounds for hope at a time in which struggles for liberation churn across the globe. “Indispensable, timely, and much needed”, notes Greg Grandin, author and Peter V. and C. Vann Woodward Professor of History at Yale University.
