Men’s Soccer

Fresh off their Liberty League championship victory, Vassar split a pair of matches in the NCAA Division III tournament November 16 and 17 on the campus of Middlebury College in Middlebury, VT. The Brewers won their first-round match, 3-0, over Rowan University but fell to Middlebury in the second round, 2-1. Arden Tobolski ’28 scored all three goals in the win over Rowan. Jared Fiske ’26 scored Vassar’s goal in the loss to Middlebury.

Vassar earned its third Liberty League title, edging St. Lawrence University in the championship match on November 10 on Gordon Field. The Brewers converted four of five penalty kicks in a shootout after neither team could score in the 90 minutes of regulation and 20 minutes of overtime. Goalkeeper Jacob Raphan ’27, who made a career-high 10 saves during regulation and overtime, made another stop in the shootout to help clinch the victory for Vassar. Tobolski, Fiske, Duncan Keker ’25, and Otis Wildman ’26 scored in the shootout.

The Brewers advanced to the finals of the league championship playoffs with a 2-1 win over Rochester Institute of Technology on November 8 on Gordon Field. Fiske and Keker scored the goals.

The Brewers defeated Rochester Institute of Technology, 5-1, at Gordon Field on November 2. Keker scored two goals.

The Brewers defeated Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, 3-0, at Gordon Field on October 30. Jackson Hall ’25 scored two goals, and Keker tallied the other. Raphan stopped four shots on goal.

On October 12, the Brewers overtook Hobart College 3-0 on Gordon Field. Clem Grossman ’28, Tobolski, and Keker scored the goals.

Joshua Lee ’28 converted a pass from Fiske, propelling Vassar to a 1-0 victory over Skidmore College on October 5. The game was played on the Skidmore campus in Saratoga Springs, NY. Raphan stopped four shots.

Fiske scored a goal and assisted on another in Vassar’s 3-0 win over Bard College on October 2 on the Bard campus in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY.

Lee scored early in the second half to lift Vassar to a 1-0 win over Liberty League rival Union College on September 28 on Gordon Field. Lee converted a pass into the box from Eli Torrey ’27.

Montclair State University edged Vassar, 1-0, on September 21 on Gordon Field. Goalkeeper Quinn Davidson ’28 made five saves.

Torrey scored early in the second half to propel Vassar to a 2-1 victory over Drew University on September 17 on Gordon Field. Tobolski converted a pass from Mauricio Mejia ’27 eight minutes into the game, and Drew tied the score about a minute later. Mejia and Fiske assisted on Torrey’s goal.

Vassar scored twice in the first half and held on to defeat SUNY Oneonta, 2-1, on September 14 on the Oneonta, NY, campus. Tobolski and Gavin Johnson ’28 scored the Brewers’ goals.

The Brewers suffered their first loss of the season on September 7, falling to Brandeis University, 3-2, on Gordon Field. Hall and Fiske scored late goals, but the Brewers could not score the equalizer.

Fiske scored two goals in Vassar’s 4-2 victory over Springfield College on September 1 on Gordon Field. Tobolski and Jack Staples ’28 also tallied.

Tobolski scored three goals to pace Vassar to a 5-1 victory over West Connecticut State University on August 30 on Gordon Field. Fiske and Keker scored the other two goals for the Brewers.

The Brewers made history by winning their opening round match in the NCAA Division III Tournament, 1-0 over St. Mary’s College of Maryland on November 16 on the campus of Christopher Newport University in Newport News, VA. It was Vassar’s first ever win in an NCAA tourney. Christopher Newport blanked Vassar, 4-0, in the second round on November 17. Cecelia Wager ’27 scored the winning goal against St. Mary’s on assists from Rebecca Rodriguez ‘26 and Riley McGrath ’26.

Vassar lost to William Smith College in the semifinals of the Liberty League Championships on November 8 on the Wiliam Smith campus in Geneva, NY. Goalkeeper Laura Shea ’28 stopped five William Smith shots.

The Brewers advanced to the semifinals of the league playoffs with a 2-1 victory over Clarkson University on November 5 on Gordon Field. Lucy Hart ’28 tied the game at 1-1 in the 27th minute, and Gianna Panarelli ’27 scored the game winner two minutes into the second half.

The Brewers edged Rochester Institute of Technology, 2-1, on November 2 in Rochester, NY. Noelle Namba ’25 and Panarelli scored for Vassar.

Vassar battled to a 0-0 tie with William Smith College in Geneva on October 12. Shea made seven saves in goal.

Vassar suffered its first Liberty League loss of the season on October 5, falling to Skidmore College, 2-1, on Gordon Field. Alice Crowley ’28 scored the Brewers’ lone goal.

The Brewers scored two goals late in the second half, defeating Farmingdale State College on October 2 on the Farmingdale, NY, campus. Crowley broke the scoreless tie in the 77th minute on a pass from Rebecca Rodriguez ’26. Liv Ivie ’28 added the second goal three minutes later.

Rodriguez scored in the 14th minute on a pass from Jessica Bowman ’26, and goalkeeper JD Reigrut ’25 preserved the shutout in Vassar’s 1-0 victory over Union College. The game was played on the Union campus in Schenectady, NY, on September 28.

New York University broke a 3-3 tie in the 86th minute and defeated the Brewers, 4-3, on September 21 on Gordon Field. Riley McGrath ’26 and Cecelia Wager ’27 scored six minutes apart late in the second half to tie the score, but NYU’s Rena Kalagiros scored the game winner less than two minutes after Wager’s goal.

Panarelli scored on a penalty kick in the 49th minute to lift the Brewers to a 1-1 tie against Montclair State University on September 14 on the Montclair, NJ, campus.

Maddie Wolf ’27 scored on a penalty shot in the 86th minute to salvage a 1-1 tie with the University of Scranton on September 7 on the Scranton, PA, campus.

Crowley scored her fourth goal of the young season, sparking Vassar’s 3-0 victory over Sarah Lawrence College on September 4. The game was played on the Sarah Lawrence campus in Yonkers, NY. Crowley opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, and team captain London Wilkes ’25 scored twice in the second half.

The Brewers opened the season with an 8-0 win over Elms College on August 30 on the Elms campus in Chicopee, MA. Crowley scored three goals.

Women’s Cross Country

Vassar finished fourth in a field of 24 teams in the NCAA Division III Mideast Regionals on November 16 in New London, CT. Haley Schoenegge ’27 finished second overall with a time of 20:57.5 in the 6k race. Vassar qualified for a berth in the NCAA finals in Terre Haute, IN on November 23.

Vassar won the Liberty League Championship on November 2 for the second year in a row, a feat unprecedented in the history of the College. Haley Schoenegge ’27 crossed the line first and set both a course record and a Liberty League Championship record with a time of 20:59:06. The race was held on the campus of St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY. Adelaide Nyhan ’27 scored a 5th-place finish and earned All Liberty League First Team honors with a time of 22:07:10, followed by Anna Kaigle ’25 in 7th with First Team honors and a time of 22:30. Right behind was Noah Reade in ’27 with Second Team honors in 8th place, completing the course in 22:38.8.

Schoenegge posted a school record in a 6k race, finishing third overall at the Paul Short Run on October 5 in Bethlehem, PA. Schoenegge crossed the finish line in 20:52.3. Kaigle was 48th in the 386-runner field with a time of 22:20.3.

Schoenegge paced Vassar to a second-place finish in a 10-team field at the Cardinal Invitational on September 21 on the Wesleyan University campus in Middletown, CT. Schoenegge was second overall with a time of 21:20.06 in the 6k race. Kaigle was fourth, posting a time of 21:48.3.

The Brewers defeated nine opponents at the Ron Stonitsch Invitational on September 14 at Vassar Farm. Schoenegge outpaced the 100-runner field by 13 seconds. Kaigle, Nyhan, and Acadia Helfand ’27 finished third, fifth, and sixth, respectively.

Schoenegge won Liberty League Performer of the Week honors by finishing first at the Vassar Season Starter on August 30 on the Vassar campus. Schoenegge posted a time of 10:32.6 in the 3k race. Kaigle finished second with a time of 10:50.6. The Brewers edged top-ranked New York University in team scoring, 30-34.

Men’s Cross Country

Sean Miller ’27 qualified for a spot in the NCAA finals with a 16th-place finish at the Mideast Regionals on November 16 in New London, CT. The Vassar team finished eighth in a 24-team field.

The Brewers finished third in the nine-team Liberty League Championship November 2 on the campus of St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY. Jose Magana ’25 finished in 12th, completing the course in a time of 25:26:08, earning All Liberty League Second Team recognition. Sean Miller ’27 finished 16th with a time of 25:44:05 and Honorable Mention honors, and Max Frazee ’27 came in 26th in 26:04:08.

Vassar finished 15th in a field of 41 teams at the Paul Short Run on October 5 in Bethlehem, PA. Magana was 17th overall in a field of 373 runners, completing the 8k course in 25:05.5.

Vassar finished fourth in an eight-team field at the Wesleyan Invitational on September 21 in Middletown, CT. Magana finished sixth overall, and Miller was 14th.

Tim Buchan ’25 paced Vassar to a first-place finish at the Ron Stonitsch Invitational on September 14 at Vassar Farm. Buchan finished third overall in the race against 99 other runners on nine other teams.

Vassar opened the season by defeating six other teams at the Vassar Season Starter on August 30 on the Vassar campus. Miller and Magana finished second and third, respectively, to pace the Brewers. The Brewers defeated New York University, Stevens Institute of Technology, Union College, SUNY New Paltz, Bard, and Sarah Lawrence.

Women’s Rugby

Vassar defeated Fairfield University, 37-7, in the finals of the Tri-State Conference playoffs on November 10 at Vassar Farm. Jude Robinson ’26 scored four tries.

Vassar took the win in a riveting game against Marist College in the Tri-State Conference Semifinals with a final score of 39-33 on November 2 at Vassar Farm. Rosie Perkinson ’28, Rahmat Gambari ’28, Sarah Towne ’28, and AC Smith ’27 each scored two tries, and Towne added five conversions.

The Brewers emerged the victors over Stony Brook University at Vassar Farm in the quarterfinal of the Tri-State Conference Playoffs with a final score of 62-0. Robinson and Sophia Bailey ’26 both made three tries.

The Brewers won 28-0 by forfeit against Columbia University at Vassar Farm on October 20.

Vassar triumphed over Columbia University 93-0 on October 9 in New York City. Bailey scored three tries and Zoe Lynch ’25 kicked nine conversions.

Bailey scored five tries in Vassar’s 60-19 victory over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on October 6 at Vassar Farm. Lynch scored one try and kicked five conversions.

Bailey scored four tries in Vassar’s 37-7 victory over Fairfield University on September 29 at Vassar Farm.

Vassar overwhelmed Kutztown University, 90-0, on September 15 on the Kutztown, PA, campus. Sam Tang ’25 scored two tries and Lynch kicked 10 conversions.

The Brewers opened the season with a 34-10 victory over Yale University on September 8 at Vassar Farm. Robinson scored a pair of tries, and Lynch scored a try and kicked two conversions.

Men’s Rugby

The Brewers fell to Hofstra University in the Tri-State Conference semifinals, 67-19, at Vassar Farm on November 2. TJ Usher ’27, Dimitrios Tzepos ’25, and Luca Pereira Frears ’27 each scored a try, while Ben Remy ’25 and Mark Gislason ’26 each kicked a conversion.

In a win that clinched a spot in the Tri-State Conference semifinals, the Brewers triumphed over Seton Hall, 59-10, on October 27 at Vassar Farm. Mariano Decarvalho ’25 scored two tries and Remy kicked six conversions.

Both Matheo Dwyer ’25 and Jack Gibberd ’25 scored three tries in a 53-24 victory over Maritime College on October 20. Nigel Trenh ’26 kicked four conversions.

The Brewers edged SUNY New Paltz, 44-40, on October 12 at Vassar Farm. The lead shifted five times over the thrilling game, Vassar falling behind by twelve points and making a comeback. The final try was made by Finn Smith ’27.

Vassar overcame a 19-0 deficit and rallied to defeat Williams College, 26-24, on September 28 on the Williams campus in Williamstown, MA. Gene Waddy ’27 scored the winning try with four minutes to play.

The Brewers posted a pair of victories on September 22 on the Bard College campus in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY. Dwyer scored a pair of tries in a 22-0 win over Bard, and Gibberd scored twice in a 41-7 win over Union College.

Vassar used balanced scoring to defeat Wesleyan University, 24-17, on September 14 at Vassar Farm. Ted Twit ’28 came off the bench to score the clinching try.

Usher scored five tries in Vassar’s 67-0 victory over Marist College on September 8 at Vassar Farm.

The Brewers opened the season with a 52-0 win over SUNY Albany on August 31 on the Albany, NY, campus. Usher scored four tries.

Women’s Volleyball

Maura McAusland ’27

Vassar (8-15, 3-5 Liberty League) capped its season by defeating the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and Utica University on November 9 at Kenyon Hall. Maura McAusland ’27 had nine kills and seven digs in the 3-0 win over the Merchant Marine Academy. Holland Kaplan ’27 had 12 kills, seven digs, and two service aces in the 3-2 victory over Utica.

SUNY New Paltz posted a 3-1 win over Vassar on November 6 on the New Paltz campus. Kaplan registered a team-high 11 kills.

The Brewers triumphed over Bard College, 3-0, on October 30 at Kenyon Hall. McAusland had 11 kills, four blocks, and two service aces. Erin Lovett ’28 had eight kills and one block.

Vassar swept St. Lawrence University, 3-0, on October 25 in Kenyon Hall. McAusland had 10 kills, two blocks, and six digs, while Kaplan had eight kills, five aces, and seven digs.

Vassar fell to William Smith in three sets on October 11 at Bristol Gym. McAusland finished with eight kills, a dig, a block, and an ace. Julia Hale ’25 registered seven kills and three blocks.

Vassar fell in straight sets to Clarkson University in the opening Liberty League contest of the season on October 4 in Kenyon Hall. McAusland registered 10 kills, three service aces, and 11 digs.

Vassar fell to Williams College in four sets on September 25 at Kenyon Hall. Kaplan registered 17 kills, two service aces, and seven digs.

Arcadia University and host William Paterson University defeated Vassar on September 21 in Wayne, NJ. McAusland registered 15 kills in a 3-1 loss to Arcadia. Kaplan had nine kills, seven digs, and two service aces in a 3-0 loss to William Paterson.

Vassar dropped a pair of matches on September 14 on the campus of Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA. The Brewers fell to Stevens Institute of Technology in straight sets and lost to Muhlenberg, 3-1. Kaplan led the team with 10 kills in each match.

McAusland registered 16 kills to pace Vassar to a 3-1 victory over SUNY Morrisville on September 7 at Kenyon Hall. Hailey Hayes ’25 had 20 assists.

The Brewers opened their home season with a pair of losses to SUNY Geneseo, 3-0, and Wheaton College, 3-1, on September 6 in Kenyon Hall. McAusland registered eight kills in the loss to SUNY Geneseo. Kaplan had 10 kills and three digs in the loss to Wheaton.

Vassar split a pair of matches on August 31 on the campus of Montclair State University in Montclair, NJ. The Brewers defeated Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham in straight sets, but were blanked by the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth. Vassar fell to Montclair State in four sets on August 30. McAusland registered a team-high nine kills, four service aces, and three digs in the win over FDU.

Field Hockey

Vassar defeated SUNY New Paltz, 1-0, on November 1 at Weinberg Field. Sofia Beseth ’26 scored on a penalty stroke.

The Brewers fell in overtime, 2-1, to the University of Rochester at Weinberg Field on October 27. The goal was made by Karina Hoffman ’27, who scored Vassar’s lone goal. Goalkeeper Grace Wiley ’27 made five saves.

William Smith defeated Vassar, 2-1, on October 25 on the William Smith campus in Geneva, NY. Beseth scored for the Brewers.

The Brewers fell 4-0 to Ithaca College in Ithaca on October 20. Wiley made seven saves in goal for Vassar.

The Brewers celebrated a 2-1 win over Skidmore College at Weinberg Field on October 12. Tori Baker ’25 scored one goal, her team-leading fifth of the season. Zoe Robinson ’28 scored the other goal.

Mackenzie Allen ’28 scored the lone goal for the Brewers in a 3-1 loss against Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on October 9 in Troy, NY. Wiley made six saves in goal.

Anna Hazewindus ’27 scored Vassar’s lone goal in a 3-1 loss to the University of Scranton on October 2 on Weinberg Turf Field.

Nationally ranked Christopher Newport University scored with 10 minutes to play to edge the Brewers, 2-1, on September 28 on Weinberg Turf Field. Hoffman scored on a penalty corner for Vassar. Goalkeeper Wiley stopped 11 Christopher Newport shots.

Muhlenberg College blanked the Brewers, 5-0, on September 20 on the Muhlenberg campus in Allentown, PA. Wiley made three saves.

Kean (NJ) State University edged Vassar, 4-3, on September 17 on the Kean campus in Union, NJ. Baker tallied twice for the Brewers, and Beseth scored the other goal.

Three Brewers scored the first goals of their collegiate careers in a 5-1 victory over Smith College on September 14 on Weinberg Turf Field. Bailey Mann ’28 scored in the 25th minute, converting a pass from Hazewindus. Robinson and Ella Martin ’28 scored unassisted goals in the third quarter. Beseth opened the scoring for Vassar with a pair of goals in the first and second quarters.

Vassar fell to Wesleyan University, 4-1, on September 7 on Weinberg Turf Field. Beseth scored Vassar’s lone goal on a penalty stroke.

SUNY Geneseo blanked the Brewers, 5-0, on August 31 on Weinberg Turf Field. Vassar goalkeeper Wiley stopped nine Geneseo shots.

Baker and Sydney Kovel ’26 scored second-half goals to lift Vassar to a 2-1 victory over Marywood University on August 30 on Weinberg Turf Field.

Men’s Tennis

Fernando Bauermeister ’26 and James Balon ’25 each posted two victories at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northeast Regionals on September 27 and 28 in Madison, NJ. Both lost their quarterfinal matches.

Vassar opened the fall season with a 7-0 win over Bard College on September 15 on the Bard campus in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY. Henry Zhang ’27 won his #1 singles match, 6-0, 6-0, and teamed with Bauermeister for a 6-1 win in doubles.

Women’s Tennis

Erin McCusker ’26 lost her quarterfinal match at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northeast Regionals on September 21 in Saratoga Springs, NY. McCusker won her first three matches.

Teaen Sweet ’27

Women’s Golf

Teaen Sweet ’27 posted scores of 76 and 84 on October 5 and 6 to finish in a tie for second at the Union Fall Invitational in Schenectady, NY. Sophia Calvillo ’27 finished fourth with rounds of 81 and 82.

Vassar finished 19th in a 23-team field at the Williams Invitational September 28 and 29 in Williamstown, MA. Calvillo was the Brewers’ top performer, finishing 53rd.

Vassar finished 10th in an 11-team field at the George Phinney Classic in Middlebury, VT, on September 21 and 22. Sweet was Vassar’s top performer with a 30th-place finish.

Vassar won all four matches against SUNY Purchase on September 14 at Casperkill Golf Club in Poughkeepsie. Sweet and Olivia Pocat ’27 posted 9 and 7 match play wins. Calvillo won her match 9 and 8, and Katrina Wu ’26 defeated her opponent 5 and 3.

Men’s Rowing

On October 26 at the Head of the Fish, the men’s varsity eight finished 10th out of 14 with a final time of 11:22:97. The varsity four crossed the line at 12:54:62 with a place of 11 out of 25. Meanwhile, the Vassar novice eight came in 8th in a field of 12 with a time of 14:18:83.

Vassar’s varsity eight finished 16th in a field of 25 at the Head of the Riverfront Regatta October 6 in Hartford, CT. The crew of Gabriel Leonard ’27, Henry France ’26, Willem Doherty ’25, Hogan Flechtner ’27, Jasper Piermarini ’26, Patrick Cincotti ’28, Robert Gee ’26, and Ben Vinson ’25, guided by coxswain Sofia DeRose ’28, completed the course in a time of 16:03.12.

Women’s Rowing

On October 26 at the Head of the Fish, the Vassar novice eight finished 13th in a field of 20, completing the course in 15:07:59. The Vassar varsity eight finished 13th in a field of 15 with a time of 13:19:03, while the varsity four crossed the line with a time of 14:32:31, finishing 18th in a field of 33.

Vassar’s varsity eight posted a 26th-place finish at the Head of the Riverfront Regatta on October 6 in Hartford, CT. The team of Ava Zumpano ’27, Naomi Fertig ’28, Dorien Laurens ’26, Kathleen Brawley ’25, Grace Huber ’27, Naomi Meyers ’27, Rena Badami ’28, and Posey Whidden ’25, guided by coxswain Miriam Barker ’27, posted a time of 19:38.42.

Men’s Basketball

Shea Fitzgerald ’27 scored 26 points to propel the Brewers to a 74-55 victory over Arcadia College on November 9 in the consolation game of the Gettysburg Tip-Off Tournament.

Vassar opened the season on November 8 with an 81-54 loss to Ohio Northern University at the Gettysburg Tip-Off Tournament in Gettysburg, PA. Nathan Denham ’26 led all Vassar scorers with 18 points.

Women’s Basketball

Vassar cruised to victory in the finals of the Hochberg Tip-Off Tournament, defeating William Paterson University 74-59 on November 9 in the Athletics and Fitness Center. Julia Harvey ’25 led all scorers with 25 points.

The Brewers opened the season with a 67-40 victory over Misericordia University in the opening round of the Hochberg Tip-Off Tournament on November 8 in the Athletics and Fitness Center. Tova Gelb ’25 led a balanced scoring attack with 15 points.
