Two Dance Companies in Residency: Pony Box Dance Theatre and Battery Dance

Two NYC-based contemporary dance companies will create new works during their residencies at Vassar in Spring 2025.

Battery Dance returns in March for its second company residency to work with Brooklyn choreographer Damani Pompey. Pony Box Dance Theatre, an all-male dance company, will re-imagine the seminal dance work The Green Table, (1932), choreographed by Kurt Jooss, and present it to the Vassar community in advance of their NYC performances in May. Comprised of diverse male artists, the troupe’s performances, set to original scores, are recognized for their physically powerful, visually compelling and soulful aesthetic.
