Following up on President Bradley’s January 10 COVID Update memos, we are writing to provide additional information regarding mask and testing availability, as well as our Daily Health Check requirement.

Daily Health Checks

As required by the NY HERO Act, employees (including faculty) are required to complete a daily health assessment each day they are planning to work on campus. All employees receive a daily email with a link to the health check form. It is also readily available:

• Via the Vassar Mobile App (iOS / Android)
• Via your web browser: http://go.vassar.edu/symptoms

Masks

With thanks to Vassar’s Procurement team and also to Dutchess County, Vassar is able to provide each employee with a box of 20 KN95 masks for their personal use.

As a reminder, masking is required in all situations indoors (not outdoors) unless alone in a private area or undertaking strenuous exercise. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) provides helpful information about choosing, wearing, and handling masks. Please make sure to wear a mask that fits properly, and follow the instructions that may have been provided with your choice of mask. Properly-fitted N95, KN95, KF94, or double masking, with a surgical mask on the inside, is recommended.

If you would like to receive either surgical masks or an allotment of 20 KN95 masks, please coordinate within your department to submit a work order in TMA.

Testing

Westchester Medical Center will set up testing at the Aula twice per week (Wednesdays and Fridays, 1:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m.) beginning January 26. This testing (which is by appointment or walk-in) will be available for students and employees (including faculty) who are contacted by the Health Service and recommended for testing. In addition, this testing is available for students and employees who wish to be tested optionally. Please note that the CDC does not recommend routine testing for asymptomatic, fully vaccinated people. Please see this FAQ for information on contact tracing and how to access testing on campus.
