Joseph Nevins researches ties between the United Fruit Company and Boston
Joseph Nevins, Professor of Geography, is an awardee of the New England Regional Fellowship Consortium (NERFC) for 2022. Professor Nevins's fellowship will allow for eight weeks of archival research this summer on the ties between the United Fruit Company and Boston, where the corporation was founded and headquartered. The research will take place at the Leventhal Map Center and Special Collections of the Boston Public Library, Harvard Business School, Northeastern University, and Dartmouth College.
NERFC is a collaboration of 30 major cultural agencies making fellowship grants to projects that draw on institutional resources throughout New England in fields as varied as history, literature, art history, African American studies, American studies, women’s and gender studies, anthropology, sociology, philosophy, religious studies, environmental studies, oceanography, and the histories of law, medicine, and technology.
