Posse Plus Retreat: Truth or Consequences?
Main Library, Class of 1951 Reading Room
The PPR is a space where students, faculty, and staff come together to discuss a topic relevant to our community. The retreat will run from 8:30 a.m.–6:00 p.m.; a talent/no talent show will follow from 6:00–8:00 p.m. Registration is free and meals are provided.
The year’s topic is Truth or Consequences?
With growing divisions in our country, we are constantly asked to question what is true. This PPR will explore the role of truth and its impact on key structures within our society like education, politics, the criminal justice system, elections, and our lives. We will consider: What is truth? Why does fact get questioned? What are the consequences of disputing the truth? What role does social media and the news play? Who do we trust to tell the truth? Who do we hold accountable?
These questions and more will be considered at the 2023 Posse Plus Retreat: Truth or Consequences?
