Women’s Basketball

Julia Harvey ’25 scored a career-high 27 points, propelling Vassar (17-8, 14-4 Liberty League) to a 75-71 victory over 10th-ranked Ithaca College February 18 in the Athletics and Fitness Center. It was the Bombers’ first Liberty League loss of the season. Tova Gelb ’25 finished with 21 points.

Alex Lee ’23 scored 25 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the Brewers’ 85-61 victory over William Smith College February 17 at the Athletics and Fitness Center.

Skidmore College snapped the Brewers’ eight-game winning streak with a 71-66 victory on February 11 in Saratoga Springs, NY. Harvey scored 21 points.

Gelb and Eliza Srinivasan ’23 combined for 41 points in Vassar’s 86-73 victory over Rochester Institute of Technology February 10 on the RIT campus. Gelb finished with 23 points, and Srinivasan added 18.

The Brewers extended their winning streak to seven games by defeating Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, 67-55, February 4 on the RPI campus in Troy, NY.  Srinivasan scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Gelb had 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Vassar jumped out to a 20-3 lead in the first quarter and went on to defeat Bard College, 77-34, February 3 on the Bard campus in Annandale, NY. Sierra McDermed ’26 scored 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds.

McDermed scored 22 points in Vassar’s 89-57 win over Clarkson University January 28 at the Athletics and Fitness Center.

Vassar used a strong second quarter to defeat St. Lawrence University, 75-57, January 27 at the Athletics and Fitness Center. The Brewers trailed at the end of the first quarter, 17-16, but outscored the visitors by a 27-6 margin in the second.  Srinivasan led all Vassar scorers with 16 points.

Eleven players scored at least two points in Vassar’s 70-41 win over Bard College January 21 at the Athletics and Fitness Center. Maddie Ahearn ’26 had a game-high 20 points. McDermed grabbed 11 rebounds.

Naiya Kurnik ’26 tallied a career-high 19 points in Vassar’s 85-68 win over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute January 20 at the Athletics and Fitness Center.

Srinivasan scored 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Brewers to a 71-50 victory over Rochester Institute of Technology January 14 at the Athletics and Fitness Center. Harvey led all scorers with 11 points.

Lee scored 13 points in Vassar’s 62-50 loss to Skidmore College January 13 at the Athletics and Fitness Center.

The Brewers overcame a halftime deficit with a strong third quarter and went on to defeat Union College, 44-38, January 10 on the Union campus in Schenectady, NY. Vassar outscored Union by a 16-7 margin in the third quarter. Lee scored 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds.

Vassar used balanced scoring to defeat St. Lawrence University, 58-54, January 7 on the St. Lawrence campus in Canton, NY. McDermed had 14 points, Harvey scored 13, and Lee added 12.

Clarkson University used a strong fourth quarter to edge the Brewers, 83-81, on January 6 on the Clarkson campus in Potsdam, NY. The Golden Knights outscored Vassar by a 27-16 margin in the final 10 minutes. Caroline Siekman ’26 led all Vassar scorers with 19 points. Bella Tawney ’26 had 15.

Harvey led a balanced scoring attack in Vassar’s 62-49 victory over Gordon College December 30 on the Gordon campus in Wenham, MA. Harvey finished with 12 points. Lee had 11, and Tawney added 10.

Men’s Basketball

Vassar (13-12, 9-9 Liberty League) lost to Ithaca College, 74-56, February 18 at the Athletics and Fitness Center. Jack Rothenberg ’23 led the Brewers with 14 points.

Hobart College defeated Vassar, 57-49, February 17 at the Athletics and Fitness Center. Rothenberg scored 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds.

Skidmore College broke open a close game early in the second half and went on to defeat Vassar, 79-57, February 11 on the Skidmore campus in Saratoga Springs, NY. The game was tied at 33 at halftime, but the Thoroughbreds opened the second half by outscoring the Brewers, 17-2. Zev Katz ’23 scored 14 points.

Vassar fell to Liberty League rival Rochester Institute of Technology, 66-52, February 10 on the RIT campus. Luke Adams ’25 led all Brewer scorers with 11 points.

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute used a strong second half to defeat the Brewers, 78-60, February 4 on the RPI campus in Troy, NY. Vassar trailed by just two points at the half but connected on just six of 26 shots from the field in the second half. Kevin McAuliffe ’23 led Vassar scorers with 16 points.

Vassar defeated Bard College, 73-62, February 3 on the Bard campus in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY. Avni Mustafaj ’23 led the Brewers with 20 points.

Adams came off the bench to score 17 points, propelling Vassar to a 63-58 victory over Clarkson University January 28 at the Athletics and Fitness Center. He connected on five of seven shots from beyond the arc.

Poor first-half shooting contributed to Vassar’s 57-49 loss to St. Lawrence University January 27 at the Athletics and Fitness Center. The Brewers trailed at halftime, 29-15, connecting on just five of 24 shots. Mustafaj led all Vassar scorers with 16 points.

The Brewers overcame a slow start and defeated Bard College, 72-64, January 21 at the Athletics and Fitness Center. Vassar trailed midway through the first half, 24-19 but finished the half with a 19-5 run. Mustafaj led a balanced attack with 15 points. Nathan Denham ’26 added 12.

Mustafaj scored 29 points in Vassar’s double-overtime win over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute January 20 at the Athletics and Fitness Center. He 
converted 15 of 17 shots from the foul line. Zach Johnson ’23 had 18 rebounds.

Rothenberg’s basket and free throw with 27 seconds remaining propelled Vassar to a 69-65 win over Rochester Institute of Technology January 14 at the Athletics and Fitness Center. The Brewers trailed RIT by a score of 65-64 when Rothenberg scored on a layup and was fouled on the play. He converted the foul shot and Vassar hung on for the win.

Skidmore edged Vassar, 78-77, in overtime, January 13 at the Athletics and Fitness Center. Mustafaj led all Brewers scorers with 19 points. 

Vassar used a balanced scoring attack to defeat Union College, 70-52, January 10 on the Union campus in Schenectady, NY. McAuliffe scored 15 points, Ethan Ellis ’23 had 14, and Mustafaj added 11.

The Brewers connected on just 29.6 percent of their shots and fell to St. Lawrence University, 47-44, on January 7 on the St. Lawrence campus in Canton, NY. McAuliffe led Vassar with nine points.

Rothenberg scored the game-winning basket with three seconds left in overtime, lifting the Brewers to a 92-90 victory over Clarkson University on January 6. The game was played on the Clarkson campus in Potsdam, NY. Rothenberg finished with a game-high 24 points.

Vassar fell to Williams College, ranked second in the nation, by a score of 68-56 January 2 on the Williams campus in Williamstown, MA. Johnson scored a team-high 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds.

The Brewers edged The College of New Jersey, 81-77, on December 30 in the consolation game of the W&L Holiday Classic in Lexington, KY. Mustafaj connected on 7 of 10 shots from the field and 15 of 18 from the foul line to finish with 30 points.

Vassar lost to Washington and Lee University, 83-70, December 29 in the opening round of the W&L Holiday Classic. Mustafaj paced the Brewers with 21 points.

Men’s Volleyball

Vassar (11-1, 1-0 United Volleyball Conference) posted a pair of straight set victories February 18 at Kenyon Hall. The Brewers blanked Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Stevenson University. Andrew Kim ’23 had 11 kills, two blocks and six digs in the win over MIT and 18 kills, eight digs and two service aces against Stevenson.

For the first time since 2002, Vassar defeated Springfield College on February 16 before a raucous crowd in Kenyon Hall. The Brewers won the first two sets, 25-21 and 25-22, lost the third set, 26-28, and won the fourth, 25-23. Springfield entered the game ranked third in the country. Vassar was ranked fifth. Kim and Adam Gulick ’23 combined for 32 kills.

The Brewers posted a pair of 3-0 wins over Ramapo College and Eastern Nazarene College February 11 on the Ramapo campus in Mahwah, NJ. Vaughn Ramsey ’24 had 11 kills in the win over Ramapo. Kim had 11 kills, three blocks, and seven digs in the victory over Eastern Nazarene.

Kim had 10 kills and 10 digs in Vassar’s straight-set victory over Randolph-Macon College February 10 at Kenyon Hall.

Vassar swept Misericordia University and Lasell University in straight sets February 4 at Kenyon Hall. Kim had nine kills in the win over Misericordia. Kim and Gulick each registered 12 kills in the victory over Lasell.

Vassar scored straight-set victories over SUNY Potsdam and St. Joseph’s University of Long Island January 28 at Kenyon Hall. Ramsey had 11 kills in the win over Potsdam, while Gulick registered 13 kills, two blocks, and four digs in the victory over St. Joseph’s.

Vassar opened the season by splitting a pair of matches on the campus of Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ. The Brewers swept Elms College, 3-0, but fell to Stevens in straight sets. Andrew Guaragno ’24 paced the Brewers in the victory over Elms with nine kills and four digs. Gulick had 14 kills in the loss to Stevens.

Women’s Swimming and Diving

Vassar finished second in a 10-team field at the Liberty League Championships February 15-18 on the Ithaca (NY) College campus. Addie Wiener ’26 earned all-league First Team honors with a victory in the 500-freestyle with a career-best time of 5:05.53. Lillian Lowenthal ’23 was second in the 200-breaststroke and third in the 100-butterfly, and Sarah Quintana ’24 finished third in the 400-individual medley

Vassar won the Skidmore Sprint Invitational January 28 on the Skidmore campus in Saratoga Springs, NY. Vassar defeated Skidmore, Mount Holyoke, and Bard. The 200-yard medley relay team opened the competition with a win. Members of the team were Lowenthal, Quintana, Abbe Colgan ’26, and Abby Whittington ’23.

Vassar took the top three spots in the 1,000-yard freestyle and went on to defeat Union College, 195-84, January 21 at Kresge Pool. Wiener won the event in 11:08.7, followed by Quinn Hoagland ’26 and Colgan.

Vassar defeated Pace University, 164-118, January 20 on the Pace campus in Pleasantville, NY. The 200-yard medley relay team of Colgan, Whittington, Lowenthal, and Bella Rippon ’26 finished first with a time of 1:52.11. Maleigha Vietti ’26 won the 1,000-freestyle in 11:09.83.

Quintana won the 1000-yard backstroke and was part of the winning 200-medley relay team in competition against Mount Holyoke College and Trinity College January 11 in the Trinity pool in Hartford, CT. The Brewers defeated Mount Holyoke, 216-71, but lost to Trinity, 149-143.

Men’s Swimming and Diving

Vassar finished seventh in a 10-team field at the Liberty League Championships February 16-19 at Ithaca (NY) College. Robbie Perot ’23 finished sixth in the 200-freestyle in 1:43.41. Anthony Cheng ’23 was sixth in the 200-breatstroke. Perot, Jason Albaum ’23, Hayden Ehrenfeld ’25, and Lukas Johnson ’24 finished fifth in the 400-free relay. 

Vassar finished second in a three-team team field at the Skidmore Sprint Invitational in Saratoga Springs, NY on January 28. Cheng was a member of the winning 200-yard medley relay and won the 50-yard breaststroke.

Vassar was defeated by Union College, 155-128, January 231 at Kresge Pool. Vassar won the 200-yard medley with performances by Perot, Johnson, Ehrenfeld and Ben Glazebnik ’25. 

Perot won the 1,000-yard freestyle in Vassar’s 159-132 victory over Pace University January 20 in the Pace pool in Pleasantville, NY. 

Glazebnik won the 100-yard freestyle and finished second in the 200-yard freestyle in Vassar’s 155-131 loss to Trinity College January 11 in the Trinity pool in Hartford, CT.

Women’s Fencing

Vassar (19-28) split six matches and finished sixth overall at the Eastern Women’s Fencing Conference Championships February 19 on the campus of Drew University in Madison, NJ. The Brewers defeated Yeshiva University, 26-1, City College of New York, 26-1, and Hunter College, 20-7, but fell to Drew, 14-13, Stevens Institute of Technology, 16-11, and Denison University, 17-10. Hunter Grogan ’24 finished third overall in foil and was named to the EWFC First Team. Kira Wheeler ’25 was seventh in sabre and was named to the EWFC Second Team.

Vassar lost to Columbia, 26-1, and to New York University, 19-8, at the George Kolombatovich Historical Meet February 15 on the Columbia campus in New York City. Naomi Hirsch ’25 and Danielle Golden ’25 scored two victories apiece in epee competition against NYU.

Vassar won five of seven matches in Northeast Fencing Conference competition February 5 at Tufts University in Medford, MA. The Brewers defeated Dartmouth College, the University of Massachusetts, Boston University, the University of New Hampshire, and Smith College but lost to Sacred Heart University and Wellesley College. The epee squad, led by Golden and Olivia Barnes ’25, finished the day with a 47-16 record.

The Brewers dropped six Northeast Conference matches January 22 on the Boston College campus in Chestnut Hill, MA. Vassar was defeated by Tufts University, 21-6; Drew University, 19-8; Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 18-9; Brandeis University, 18-9; Brown University, 19-8, and Boston College, 19-8.  The epee squad of Barnes, Addy Xie ’25, and Sarah Boucher-Rowe ’26 won 26 of 54 matches.

Vassar won two of five matches at the Cleveland State Invitational in Cleveland, OH on January 14. The Brewers defeated the University of the Incarnate Word, 14-13, and Detroit Mercy College, 25-2. They lost to Lawrence University (14-13), Cleveland State (17-10), and Denison University (15-12). Vassar’s epee squad finished with a 30-15 record.

Men’s Fencing

The Brewers (29-16) defeated Columbia University, 14-13, but lost to New York University, 22-5, February 15 at the George Kolombatovich Historical Meet on the Columbia campus in New York City. Tom Stadnikov ’23 and Brian Li ’26 each won three bouts in epee against Columbia.

Vassar won four of five matches in Northeast Fencing Conference competition February 5 at Tufts University in Medford, MA. The Brewers topped Dartmouth College, the University of Massachusetts, Boston University, and the University of New Hampshire but fell to Sacred Heart University. The foil and saber squads each won 33 of 45 matches, and the epee squad finished with a record of 32-13.

Vassar won three of six matches at the Northeast Conference Multi-Meet January 22 on the campus of Boston College in Chestnut Hill, MA. The Brewers defeated Tufts University, 21-6, Brown University, 14-13, and Drew University, 15-12, but fell to Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 18-9, and Brandeis University, 18-9. The epee squad, led by Li, Jack Plumer ’23, Eli Weise ’25, and Alexander Moyse ’23, won 30 or 54 matches.

Vassar won four of five matches at the Cleveland State Invitational January 14 in Cleveland, OH. The Brewers posted wins over Denison University, Cleveland State, Detroit Mercy, and Lawrence University but fell to the University of the Incarnate Word. Vassar’s foil squad won 34 of 45 matches.

Women’s Squash

The Brewers (6-17) lost to Bates College, 9-0, Connecticut College, 9-0, and Mount Holyoke College, 6-3, at the Collegiate Squash Association Championships on February 17 on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Adriana Ordaya ’26, Olivia Berkson ’24, and Mariya Novosad ’26 posted victories.

Vassar defeated Smith College, 5-4, but fell to Mount Holyoke, 8-0, and Wellesley, 5-4, February 11 at Kenyon Hall. Sehar Dey-Kohli ’24 posted a straight-set win in her No. 1 match against Adelaide Esseln of Smith. Ordaya, Novosad, Sophia Choudhri ’25, and Chloe Vaiman ’26 also posted victories. 

Vassar defeated Bard College, 5-0, but lost to Denison University, 7-0, on February 4 in matches at St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY. The Brewers lost to St. Lawrence, 8-0, on February 5. Dey-Kohli defeated her Bard opponent in four sets.

Vassar lost a pair of matches to Haverford College, 9-0, and Georgetown University, 7-0, January 28 on the Haverford, PA campus. 

Men’s Squash

The Brewers (4-13) defeated Bard College, 7-2, February 5 at the Liberty League Championships on the campus of St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY. The Brewers opened the tournament February 4 by losing to Denison University, 7-1, and the University of Rochester, 9-0. Luke Chen ’26 defeated Bard’s Asa Kaplan in straight sets at No. 3.

Vassar lost a pair of matches to Haverford College, 9-0, and Georgetown University, 8-0, January 28 on the Haverford, PA campus. 

Men’s Track and Field

Jose Magana ’25 finished third in the mile run at the Werst Point Tune-Up February 18 on the campus of the United States Military Academy. Simon LaClair ’24 and Tim Jacques ’24 finished third and fourth, respectively, in the 800-meter run.

Jahmilia Dennis ’26 finished seventh overall in the 60-meter hurdles February 10 at the Fastrack Invite in Staten Island, NY. 

Jacques won the 600-meter run at the Pioneer Invitational February 4 in Utica, NY, posting a time of 1:24.72. The Brewers finished eighth in a 15-team field.

Vassar finished sixth in an 18-team field at the Blue and Orange Invite January 27 and 28 at Utica (NY) College. Levi Lilienthal ’25 and Jackson Bernreuter ’25 finished sixth and ninth, respectively, in the 5,000-meter run. Max Bergman ’25 was eighth in the heptathlon

Women’s Track and Field

Trina Chou ’23 was the top Division III finisher in the 400-meter run at the West Point Tune-Up February 18 on the campus of the United States Military Academy. 

Ava Novak ’24 was 15th overall and third among Division III competitors in the 200-meter run at the Fastrack Invite February 11 in Staten Island, NY. Augusta Stockman ’23 was 11th overall and second among Division III runners in the mile run with a time of 5:08.19.

Vassar posted a seventh-place finish in a field of 15 teams at the Pioneer Invitational February 4 in Utica, NY. Stockman was third in the 3,000-meter run, posting a time of 10:32.13.

Vassar won its first indoor meet in its history, scoring 99 points at the Blue and Orange Invite at Utica (NY) College. Stockman won the mile run with a time of 5:14.89. Stockman was also part of the winning distance medley relay team, along with Noni Pattington ’25, Clara Wiesler ’24, and Nora Goldberg-Courtney ’26.

Men’s Tennis

The Brewers defeated Union College, 8-1, February 19 on the Union campus in Schenectady, NY. Fernando Bauermeister ’26 and Nolan Kubiak ’26 won a tight match at No. 1 doubles, 8-7 (7-5 in the tiebreaker).

Vassar blanked Bard College, 9-0, February 18 at Walker Field House.  Bauermeister won his No. 1 singles match, 6-0, 6-0, and teamed with Kubiak for an 8-0 win in No. 1 doubles.

Vassar opened the spring season with a 9-0 victory over Rochester Institute of Technology February 11 on the RIT campus. Bauermeister posted a 6-0, 6-0 win in No. 1 singles and teamed with Kubiak for an 8-2 win in No. 1 doubles.

Women’s Tennis

Vassar defeated Liberty League rivals Bard College, 9-0, and the University of Rochester, 8-1, February 19 at Walker Field House. Macey Dowd ’25 won her No. 2 singles match against Rochester and teamed with Iris Li ’26 for an 8-6 win in doubles.

The U.S. Military Academy defeated Vassar, 7-0, February 11 on the West Point, NY campus. Erin McCusker ’26 split two sets at No. 3 singles but lost the tiebreaker, 10-5.
