Palestine and the New Movement against U.S. Militarism

Khury Petersen-Smith will discuss the historic nature of the outpouring of protest for a ceasefire in Gaza since the bombardment began there in October. He will also talk about the importance of the movement in pursuing a world where the rights of the vulnerable are protected and the dignity of all uplifted.

Khury Petersen-Smith is the Michael Ratner Middle East Fellow at the Institute for Policy Studies. He researches the violence that the U.S. carries out and supports around the world, and strategizes with activists to end it. Petersen-Smith received his PhD from Clark University Graduate School of Geography, where he wrote a dissertation on U.S. military bases and protest movements against them in the Pacific. He lives in Boston.
