’05 4th Year Medical Student; Youth Violence Prevention Researcher
I am currently a fourth-year medical student at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Before entering medical school, I was a Thomas J. Watson Fellow working in HIV/AIDS education in South Africa and Botswana. The bioethics classes in STS were the best classes I ever took in college. The combination of my coursework in sociology and bioethics at Vassar allowed me to have broad exposure to the social sciences, which has been immensely important to my training as a medical student and my present work as a qualitative researcher on youth violence prevention. The way of thinking that was impressed upon us in those classes at Vassar has served me every day in my work and in my life.
