’13 Energy Analyst
I knew that after Vassar, I wanted to get into the energy sector. With a background in STS, the multidisciplinary program that engages students in an intentionally broad array of subjects, I was a bit unsure of my specialty and what skills I could bring to the energy field. Currently, as an energy analyst, I have the opportunity to support multiple clients at the Department of Energy, each requiring a different set of skills to effectively accomplish program work. My everyday tasks are always changing, which is one great part about the job. A typical day might have me doing everything from editing a technical paper, to running a DOE webinar with many participants, to helping to coordinate day-long kick-off summits, to recruiting new organizations to join DOE programs. The one constant is that I have to be an effective communicator, writer, and problem solver. Without those skills, I couldn’t do my job.
