Vassar Community Works in Action

The 9th annual Community Works campaign kicked off at the end of last month and will continue throughout December, with its sights set on the goal of raising $100,000. Extant since 2001, the philanthropic campaign, spearheaded by a committee of Vassar staff, administrators, faculty, and students, aims to offer financial support to not-for-profit organizations in the Hudson Valley. Through the generous donations of Vassar individuals, Community Works has funded more than 40 local agencies and programs that feed those without food, shelter those without homes, and otherwise look after those who need it most.

This year, Community Works awarded funds to 10 recipients, including 2 new agencies: Queen’s Galley of Kingston, which provides a freshly-prepared meal to anyone who walks in their doors, three meals a day, seven days a week, and the Dutchess County Arts Council, which provides grants and support for the visual and performing arts in the Hudson Valley.
